well i speak for most Canadians when i say lots and lots of drinks . But on a more serious note doing what would interest majority of your guest would count as a big plus.
I have two close friends who are Irish and they go all out for St. Patrick's Day. One of them gets together with her large family at one of her daughter's houses. They all wear green, of course. Many have green tee shirts with sequined shamrocks, or just "Happy St. Patrick's Day!"
My other friend is in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, then she goes out to eat and have a drink or two with her friends.
I just wear green on St. Patrick's Day, and I send the grand kids a card with a $2.00 bill enclosed.
That being said, I HAVE attended my friend's family party. I believe what makes a great St. Patrick's day party is the comraderie of the people there, the laughter, and, of course, the delicious food. Kids get to play with their cousins in the back yard, and family members can catch up with what is going on in their lives. IF anyone has a birthday around that time, there is a nice decorated St. Patrick's day cake with coffee. It's a great holiday, and always wonderful for people to get together and have fun.
I know alot of people drink, and I have no problem with that. It's just not for me. I got drunk just once in my life...when I was 21. The hangover was so awful, I just decided it was not worth it to feel that rotten the next day!
Blessings, Sparklea

How do you celebrate St Patrick's Day? There are many traditions and foods, and I am sure everyone does it differently. We are going out to eat at a restaurant or pub tonight, and enjoying an Irish meal, or at least what Americans consider Irish. Since I live in Boston, it should be pretty easy to...
