Pongal, Tiruppavai, and Andal

   Hi, Friends! From tomorrow onwards for 4 days, ie. 13th to 16th January, it is our Pongal Festival celebrations.
   
   This festival is related with Tiruppavai recitations for 30 days and the author of Tiruppavai, Andal's union with God. She performed this penance for 30 days that culminates on 13th January (as per our religious texts). On the last day of that ritual she got married to her beloved God Sri Krishna at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam, Karnataka.
   This Pongal festival is also related to abundance of crops, prosperity, and kite flying, etc. It is known as Makar Sankranti by North Indians.
