What is the best gift for a five to seven year old child?

What do you buy a five to seven year old child that will keep them entertained for hours?

Help them explore their imaginations and creativity with these top 10 arts and crafts gifts.

Some things to think about before buying a toy for any child. Consider the childs interest. Do they love to create, is their a little artist in this child or is this a future race car driver?

Gifts that spark the childs imagination are wonderful, but they won't feel the spark if they can't relate to the toy, so find a gift that does both.

Also always remember that many toys for a five to seven year old child may have small parts and could be a choking hazard to children that are under three in the same household.

We have included product reviews and ratings on these are and craft gifts for the five to seven year old.

1. Fuzzoodles Jumbo Plush Construction Kit - Five star rated on Amazon

Things your child can make with Fuzzoodles: Anything their imagination takes them! I love to watch kids create with their own minds...turn off the tv...shut off your phones get down on the floor and play with your kids. You will both cherish those memories and moments. We used to play with pipe cleaners when I was young, we would twist and turn those bright colored pipe cleaners into all kinds of animals and people. Then we would play with the animals and people we created, making little villages. Using out minds to create a world we would love to live in. Fuzzoodles are lush and plush and jumbo size which help take their imagination even further.

What makes this kit even more fun for your children is the fact that it comes with all kinds of accessories to give them eyes, and feet that are easily attached because they come with little hook spots and holes.

I love the fact that this kit is re-usable. They can play for hours, create many fun and whimsical creatures, play with them, and either keep them for more playtime later, or take them apart and make something absolutely brand new.

Talk about fun, it teaches them eye hand coordination & determination. This kit sparks their imagination and really will help to entertain them and you too.

It may look like a lot of pieces, but they won't need scissors, glue or any of those other messy things that can create a lot of clean up.

They do warn that "Although Fuzzoodles are reusable, if they are bent over and over in the same spot, the wire can wear out and break. Parents are instructed to use pliers to bend the sharp edges of the wire back in for continued safe playing, or to discard the broken pieces to prevent injury."

Not recommended for small children.

2. The Orb Factory Sticky Mosaics Journal & Jewel Jewelry Box

I chose this craft because I absolutely love crafts that create something useful.

Your child can use their imagination and create something that is unique and individual to their own personality. They can use the directions and decorate by number, or just take their own path to create something that they think is perfect in their eyes.

Speaking of creating something personal, this kit when finished makes this three drawer treasure chest, that is wonderful for hiding small treasures.

It has and secret little spot where they can hid their secret journal. The journal itself encourages them to express their thoughts and feelings. Creative writing comes out as they discover who they are in the world they live in.

One happy customer, Sarah E wrote the following review on Amazon, which is one of the reasons I chose this product to share with you:

"5.0 out of 5 stars My Go-To gift for little girls! By Sarah E. on January 7, 2016 Verified Purchase This is my go-to birthday gift for any 6-7 year old girls. My daughter loves hers and insists her friends have one too. It's easy for a child to do without help, the stickers stay on firmly, and it doesn't take up much space on a shelf or nightstand. My 6 year old daughter's is packed full of bracelets, hair clips, chap sticks, shrinky dinks... she loves that the journal is "hidden" in the side so it's perfect for jotting down all her secrets! Very sturdy coated cardboard, nearly indestructible with normal use."

Overall customers rated it 4.4 out of 5 stars, most the comments were that it is small, but very sturdy.

It is definitely a gift for an older 5-9 girl, I think even 10 year olds would love them. Not for small children as their are tiny pieces.

Never worry

about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.

3. Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel - Rated 4.6 stars on Amazon

Inspire the Artist in your child! I think kids love to explore everything, art is a precious thing in a child's life as well as their parents. Some of my favorite things that I kept of my children were their drawings and stories. Savor those!

We love this easel, strong and sturdy. They stand getting some exercise while they let their minds and imaginations create beautiful artwork for the world to see.

It will hold a roll of paper so that at any time your child can start a new painting.

I love that it can also display their painting of the day, or week. They could also use it to write reminders for school.

Mom's and Dad's can use it to begin their day with a smile. Write positive affirmations to your child to brighten their day, "Good morning beautiful, you will rock this day!"

You could even write sweet love notes to your child, "I love you to the moon and beyond" or "I love you more than snow."

How about starting their day with a funny joke that will have them giggling as they wake up, and give them something to share with their friends at school each day, like maybe "why do bicycles fall over?", because they are "two-tired"!

Why is art important to your child? It helps them express their inner beauty, using their imagination to create beautiful or interesting and creative art. They will feel your love as they bring you in to show you, their grandparent, aunts and uncles in to see their heart as they have put it on each paper.

Colors and lines become a story they will tell. Many times art gives us an idea of what a child see through their eyes.

How cool is it that they Include a dry-erase board, chalkboard, locking paper-roll holder, child-safe paper cutter, 4 easy-clip grips and 2 large plastic trays, that can be removed for easy cleaning.

Happy Holidays,

The reason I choose arts and crafts gifts for children this age is because I am a huge believe that kids need time with us. These are wonderful ways to insight the imagination and explore creativity. If you sit down with your child and create with them it creates a special bond between you both.

Treasured memories not expensive gifts is what life is truly about.

I wish you and yours the happiest of years and a treasure chest full of memories to carry in your heart.

These are really fabulous arts & crafts gifts for children! I love the idea of encouraging creativity and allowing a child to discover their natural talents. Plus, there really is nothing more fulfilling than for a child to make a gift for a parent, grandparent or loved one.

@piedromolinero: There is a great way to make your own playdough too, if I remember right it is just salt flour and water, add food coloring to the right shade, and walla...your own homemade dough! :)

My daughter is 4, she loves crafting and she has a lot of this stuff... But the Moon Dough is new to me, looks like fun as other dough stuff dries out so fast.
