How To Make A Wacky Wiggler Costume

Updated on April 3, 2017

Waving Wacky Wiggler Costumes

The Wacky Wiggler, Air Dancer, or sometimes called Sky Dancer costume is taken from an advertising tool that attracts plenty of attention when seen on the side of the road. I know you seen these huge, bending, flailing, hand waving things along the side of the roads and near stores. These guys flutter and wave in the wind and makes people stop and look at it. You've seen them on TV shows like the Family Guy too. Well, now it's become a Halloween costume. And you can make it yourself at home using some simple ideas I found online.

If you have been looking for a unique and funny costume idea, the Wacky Wiggler is worth a look at. You can find a couple of written and video tutorials on this page.

What You Need To Make Your Own Wacky Wiggler Costume

This costume is made with two round pop-up laundry hampers, some black felt, some white felt, colored bright fabric, scissors, sewing supplies, zip ties, Elmer's craft glue, a hot glue gun and some glue sticks. Get complete instructions at Instructables.

Cut the bottom out on one hamper and cut any handles off, if needed. Attach the two hampers together using some zip ties. Try on the hampers and mark your arm holes so you can cut them out.

Now you need to put the colored fabric, or skin, on your Wacky Wiggler. You can sew the fabric together...that will look really good. Or you can use the quicker method, the velcro. Measure the material for your arms much longer than you need it. Take a look at the tutorial on Instructables and look at the pictures to see how to cut the mouth. This mouth has to be big enough for you to see out of.

You will also need eyes...that's what the felt is for. Glue some white felt on black felt to make those eyes and use the hot glue and gun to attach them to the face.
