Up A Tree High

Fast as rain from the sky

a cat, a squirrel up a tree high.

The squirrel was black and grey was the cat,

the two made friends, when up a tree high

The cat ate the nuts and the squirrel got the cream

from a coconut shell up a tree high.

The sun came out and the birds flew high,

but the cat and the squirrel played up a tree high.

The woodman came and chopped down the tree

so where is the cat and squirrel to be ?

Well they ran together like rain from the sky,

where birds nested ,and fledglings learn to fly.

A lake for the anglers, was a pleasant place to lie,

with sheep and cows, grazing nearbye .

They spotted a dog so didn't make a sound,

but just in case, they soon left the ground.

and joined a heron up a tree high.

I love them also,I notice here in the woods, that the dogs just stand and stare in amazement at the squirrels ,as they jump across the trees,

      thanks for stopping by,

      regards jandee.

I love to watch squirrels play, and birds too. They usually don't befriend cats, they jeer at them and tease them. That's fun to watch , too. Squirrels love to tease lumbering cats and people who they know haven't a prayer of scooting through the trees like they can do themselves, but they taunt us and dare us to try just the same. Interesting poem. I enjoyed reading it.
