Poems - Lonely Little Girl - She Was a Sad And Sitting Alone Child
Another Student
She was so quiet when I saw her
Sitting alone that first day
She looked so sad and lonely
I wondered what she had to say
I walked up to her slowly
Touched her on the shoulder
Her tears began to fall
I bent down to hold her
She cried for a long time
I brushed away her last tear
She seemed a little less sad
To know that I was near
I tried to get her to talk
To tell me why she was so sad
She opened up just a little
Told me about the life she had
She was in her fourth foster home
She was only six years old
Her mother had died when she was born
Her dad was in prison she was told
She had missed her first year of school
In the hospital once again
The cancer was in remission
She was just looking for a friend
She was with me three more years
Learned so very fast
Finally found a permanent home
One where she could last
She talked to me last week
Now she’s grown with a little boy
I told her once again
That she was still my pride and joy
