A Haiku - Spirituality
A Haiku - Spirituality
"Be not of this world."
Yet we are here; draw closer.
Be filled with spirit.
Is the season for light, only at Christmas?
Becoming the final, mortal me....
We become the sum of our choices and our choice corrections (repentance.)
Learning to be more perfect, even though we know that in this life that is an unlikely goal to achieve, is a cumulative process.
We should be growing toward that goal in the choices and decisions we make.
Will we stumble and fall short.? Yes, in all likelihood we will. But, let's stumble going forward, not backwards.
Yesterday I heard a man quote his grandfather's question and answer.
The question was this: "Why do you suppose God put man's eyes in the front of his head?"
The answer was this: "So he wouldn't spend all his time looking back."
Good question, good answer.
Yes, the past has made us what we are today, but the future is ours to fashion how we will.
My mother liked this poem:
STICK TO YOUR TASK
Stick to your task
'til it sticks to you, since beginners are many
but enders are few.
Yes, stick to your task
'til it sticks to you.
Bend at it, sweat at it.
Smile at it, too.
For out of the bend,
and the sweat, and the smille
will come Life's victory- - -
after a while..
In a slightly different version, but still credited to an anonymous author, we find that poem quoted in a good article with this link which speaks of spirituality and the steps we all must take to be good finishers, fine enders:

This is a magnificent building and place for worship....
