A moment in time - a lost moment in time

Updated on January 26, 2012

A moment in time - a wasted lifetime

This poem was triggered off by a word.. 'Jealousy' in a comment on my earlier poem. Thank you Sammyx360 for making me think from another angle. I appreciate the fact that inspiration could come from anywhere. Please do not feel sorry for me, this has just flowed out from that word and nothing more.. Jealousy is indeed the most effective weapon that kills love. It means total lack of trust or faith in the other person. Trust and faith are the very conditions which love needs for growth and fruition. Jealousy could result in tragic situations.. I can only think of the great master piece 'Othello' all that jealousy stands for... read on..

A moment in time

There arrived a moment in time,
Filled with love and feelings divine,
A moment that could have easily
Been, a piece of our eternity.

Possessiveness, impatience and jealousy,
The tinted glasses through which we did see,
Let imperfections fill our every day,
Our moment in time they did betray,

No time to listen or understand,
Slamming matches we played at,
Not thinking back to see what had drawn,
The two of us from improbable aeon's,

Our prefect moment we did waste,
Of self-pity and bitterness we did taste,
Our moment in time has passed us by,
May never come back a moment nigh.

And yet...

A hap, a chance to redress,
A time our feelings to express,
Did arrive in time like none before,
A time to grab and restore,

Pride, ego and blatant lies,
Between us stood like huge walls in size,
Too afraid to say what we felt,
Too insecure to let barriers melt,

We lost our moment once again,
As we held back and let words feign,
We lost our precious moment in time,
With it the meaning of a life time.

A ‘word’ could have come to our aid freely,
Not to be found in our rich vocabulary,
A million words we utter each day,
Yet for a word we had to pay,
With a life time!

A lost moment in time!

QudisaP1, Thank you for being here... jealousy... is one lousy emotion that reeks of lack of trust. To me trust is the most important component of love... when trust is lost you can never reconcile... that moment is lost forever. Maybe I am wrong ...

      Peace and love to you.

Absolutely beautiful reflection of jealousy entwined within the roots of love.

Raciniwa, a lost moment could cost us our happiness.. but the point is, in this poem the moment came back again and was lost in bickering... We seem to have lost the art of communicating our deepest feeling to people, while we can write epics about them. That was the interesting thought that brought about this poem. I am glad that this made sense to you. Have a blessed day. Shalom!

You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. Jealousy leaves you with just one option...calling it quits. This irrational feeling drives people insane. Thanks for the vote of confidence, the fan mail and the follow... I appreciate that very much. Have a blessed day. Shalom!

      Beautiful work Shimmering Dawn

Attachment to a person can become an obsession for some which could lead to jealousy. There is no cure for this disease and people got to part ways. Hopefully, distances can make one ponder over our deeds!

Voted up as beautiful and you have conveyed such a strong message here!

AE, That 'little word' is indeed difficult and the most impossible word for some to say .. It is a sad reality... a sorry life. I am so glad that you mentioned the little word that I deliberately left out... thank you. Your comments have always encouraged me. Be a blessing. Shalom!

Senoritaa, That is a great compliment..not that I would ever consider myself to be a poet. You are indeed a very gracious lady... thank you! Have a blessed day. Shalom!

Vincent, that sounds like a very sad story. Losing your children must have been terrible..I can only faintly imagine the pain.. Your honesty makes me admire the man you are. I am sorry to have brought up those memories.

My only thoughts when I wrote this poem were, we speak millions of words each day and maybe even write them beautifully, but when we have to communicate we fail miserably... sometimes just the word 'sorry' would do... and yet... we cannot bring ourselves to say that. Sad beings that we have become..

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. It is always so wonderful to connect with others around. Have a blessed day..Be a blessing!

Loved the choice of your words. True poets like you can really build fantastic pieces from one word.

This piece could have been written for me 13 years ago when I was forced to walk out my house, leaving behind 4 children because of not being able to communicate any further with their mother. We lost that moment in time, we tried and tried but a bitter, uncalled for, insecure, and full of lies and deceit lead us to the War of Roses.

I lived for 19 years with a woman who was a fatal attraction and I was blinded by lust for her. Even though she was seeing a doctor for her problem, I kept thinking she would get over it, NADA. It got so bad that it pushed me over the brink and sadly I lost 4 children along the way.

I live with that loss every day. So this poem is very raw for me and touches on some very sad, bitter memories. Yet written with words and verse as only a poet could do, Bravo. Rated Up awesome and beautiful and if there was a sad button I would click on it as well.
