"Baby I Love You Too" (Poetry)

Updated on May 17, 2013

Another 3am morning
I come home to shredded clothes at my door
Oh boy, she's gone off the deep end again
I guess I'll have to go shopping for more.

I walk back to my car
Better to park it at Pete's
Cause the last time things got ugly
She carved her name into my seats

I call up the bank
I need to freeze the joint account for a while
Remind me to thank Blue Cantrell
For that song "Hit Him Up Style"

Another hour passes
My alibi properly rehearsed
I finally get back home
Hopefully prepared for the worst

I breathe a sigh of relief
As I walk through the door
Thankfully she fell asleep on the couch
Tired from smashing all the dishes on the floor

I go up to bedroom
I know she'll be up in a few
So I leave a note on her pillow saying
"Baby I love you too."

I love your narrative style of writing and in many ways you are not a 'dreamer' but a 'realist' and the picture ain't always pretty but you tell it like it is - raw, direct and packed with emotion - and that's what great writers always do - reach out and make that contact with their readers - lake erie time 5:17pm

Hank Williams Sr. always has that affect on me as a songwriter

I kind of find it funny how your beloved can go to lengths when she is mad. I think your note on her pillow would calm her down.

There's no love like the love you get from a crazy woman lol

I agree with epigramman on this one - great telling style - great feeling of surrender captured in your open pen.
