Blooming: A Poem

Updated on January 12, 2014

Closed petals,

Hiding from the harsh sun,

With only the darkness as your friend,

I just wanted to peer inside,

To see the color of your soul,

I tried to touch you but nothing happened,

You stood there, stoic, ignoring me,

But I wasn't deterred,

As I opened wide my own bud you stared in wonder,

I became vulnerable so you could trust me,

Only then did you let go of your barrier,

Smiling, you fanned out your petals,

So I could finally see the beauty within.

" see the color of your soul..." In my opinion, this line holds a useful shade of meaning for the actions described in your writing: smiling, wanting, hiding, touching. Your poem gives full beauty to a flower... very much enjoyed reading it.

Lovely poem with a view of a true moment of intimacy, the breaking of barrier and total openness and relationship, getting right to the heart of it.
