Blue Ridge Reflections

Updated on January 2, 2013

Old Mill,

Touched by time,

What have you witnessed?

You are a reminder of the past

A reminder of a time when life was hard

Hard because of work

It was the Blue Ridge way of life.

Yet, it was a good life.

It was a beautiful life.

This is why we visit you today.

You are our homage to the past;

Secretly we yearn to be at work

At your wheel

Grinding the substance that becomes

Our daily bread.

The pioneer path is hard

But it is honest work

Through it learn what is important

There is a quiet strength that surrounds you,

Old Mill.

I drink in your presence

And take your reflection with me

As I walk the journey of life.

Thank you. The poem is written about a place that is about a two hour drive from my city. It is one of the places that I like to go when I want to feel like "me" again. Have a great weekend!

Great job. This is definitely the most beautiful poem you have written.I voted up.

All of us from time to time we are attacked by nostalgia ,especially when we pass by certain places.Images flash in front of our eyes, sweet words reechoing in our ears.

      have nice weekend.
