Who says sundaes are just for kids?
This is a funny poem about the foods I am fond of, or at least have given a try. Most of them are benign on a global scale. For middle America, they may be a bit odd. Now that I am older and wiser, I try to be sure that what I consume is as eco-friendly, animal friendly, and humanitarian as I can. That being said, I adore broadening my pallete.
Pickle's juices and pigs feet
Are some things I like to eat
Frogs legs and escargot
Taste fantastic don’t you know
My favorite ways to start a dinner
Turkey necks and chicken livers
I even like the hocks of ham
Who can resist a slice of spam
Oysters raw and on the half shell
Fishes with their heads and tails
Some herring pickled in a jar
The yummy pop of caviar
Anchovies salty and sardines
On a cracker are a dream
I love an olive any color
You just ask my older brother
Sheep and lamb and duck and goose
Best not leave them on the loose
Ostrich, bison, snake, and goat
A few more that have passed my throat
Gators and conchs make great fritters
Octopi are tasty critters
Eel and squid without the ink
Cheeses of the stankest stink
Just you name it I will try it
No food is banned from my diet
Except for those things deemed illegal
I will not dine upon Bald Eagle
Species threatened are off my list
No matter how tasty the dish
I find duck liver to be cruel
I’d rather eat a bowl of gruel
So line the morsels on my plate
Next time we are on a date
What you say I’ll like the worst
I’m happy to taste that one first
