Beneath a Crimson Sky - Alien Encounter Poem.

Updated on June 6, 2011

Underneath a crimson sky,

The moon glides slowly cross the day

In disdain it turns it’s head away

From Crimson sunset end of Day.

_

Night pushes day with dark intent

To clear the sky from crimson gleam

And stars reach out, their power spent

Tonight they are not what they seem

_

What is that dark so coal so black

Why is the night veil holding back

Where is the light that reaches earth

Of sparkling stars

On silver turf?

No one can see with wondrous eyes

The blinds are closed

We hide behind

Our dreams of sunsets

Crimson dawns

Not knowing what’s to come so soon

_

The day dawns dark

With mighty stealth

No sunlight breaks the darkness veil

A sound so soft begins to steal

The quiet from nights warm appeal

_

Like heartbeats thrumming,

Giant drums,

A wall of sound

Wakes sleeping sons

And mothers wake

With startled eyes

To call their husbands to their side

_

In rhythm with the thunderous sound

They shake the sleep from foggy minds

Climb slowly from their bed so deep

To curtained windows, to look, to peep

_

The horror that they saw that day

Will stay forever, clamped away

Within their darkest nightmare dreams

And turn their heads and hearts to clay

_

Machines of metal darkness, gleamed

Shiny reptile scaly wet

So huge they couldn’t see the sky

Shapes so bizarre, the colour jet

_

Twisting, turning thunderous beasts

Opened yaws of metal teeth

The sky was screeching silent pain

As leviathons poured down steaming rain

_

The Earth stood still, and held it's breath,

As horror dropped it's boiling death,

Small children screamed and ran to hide,

Behind shocked mother's, dragged inside

By husbands who, with cursing shouts

Screamed Mother get the children out.

_

The sky was filled with smoke and Earth,

As black machines dropped fire and dirt

So dark was daylight, black as birth

So many screams, so many hurt.

_

Hiding behind the broken Church,

children prayed to God to hurt,

The evil that had come inside

Our Earth our Mother and our Pride.

_

Then from the skies a savage roar,

Cascaded down the blood soaked ground

And from the East they heard and saw

The skies fill with an awesome sound.

_

Bombers, fighters, shining Stealth's,

Screaming, roaring trailing death,

Swirling, turning, fighting foe,

Fields of missiles high and low,

_

Screams of Alien voices heard,

Sounds of terror, angry, hurt,

Metal breaking, screeching pain,

Fighters coming in again

_

And then, and then

Oh, Lord be praised,

The fighters hit the complex maze

And slime red fuel drops down, cascades

And with a mighty flash and roar

The Ship breaks slowly, rent and torn

_

From where they hide, men turn to see,

A triumphant look of heartfelt glee

A pilot smiles and turns his head,

The ship is down, Leviathan is Dead.

_

A silence falls,

Men turn away,

God has blessed them,

Another day.

_

Underneath a crimson sky,

The moon glides slowly cross the day

In disdain it turns it’s head away

From Crimson sunset end of day.

_
