Daisy
I plucked the petals
From a daisy,
And all the while
I said your name.
Until from that flower
No more petals came.
I sat all afternoon
Enjoying my little game.
And the more I
Thought of you
Not even the
Hot summer’s sun
Could my wild curiosity tame.
But when one’s thoughts
Are of one such as you,
Can I hardly
Be held to blame?
I plucked the petals
From a daisy,
And all the while
I said your name.
Until through the
Evening’s cloud and mist
My true love to me came.
