Don't Open the Door... Chapter 4
Derek reached for Sarina's sides and lifted her off of his body. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.
"No, Derek... do not stop. Don't let go of me! I need this right now! If you stop it now, before we have both peaked, it will all come back to you now."
"I thought that was what we wanted to happen. I am getting more confused by the moment." He looked into her eyes and saw fear mixed with passion and fire. Derek loosened his hold on Sarina and she slowly lowered to his body again. They did not speak as their love rose until both felt the surge of their love passing from one to the other. The windows in the house flew open and a breeze entered the house.
"Hold on to me, Love and do not let go for a moment. I am taking all you have to give and returning it to you. Just love me for a little longer."
Derek said nothing. He felt the chill go up his spine just before he heard the words behind him. The same voice that had scared him so terribly in the night had returned to him. Derek pulled Sarina closer to his body and matched her every move.
"Where are you, child!?! I know you are here but I can not see you. I can smell your essence and I Know what you have been doing. It won't last forever, Sarina. Sooner or later... all good things must end. But then, you already know that, don't you?"
There was only silence. "Damn you, child, answering me before I kill you both!"
Sarina felt her body peak. She felt Derek follow her and she dug her nails in to his back. She held him tight and muffled the sounds she wanted so to let out. She knew she dared not. Her heart began to race and she tried hard to cover what Derek's loving had caused her to do. She watched as the thing suddenly turned and looked directly at them. She knew he could see them now.
"Ah-h-h-h-h, dear child, you let your body betray you. I can see the blood that is trickling from the man's back. Perhaps, I think, you should have trimmed your nails. Pity that you didn't."
Sarina lifted herself off of Derek's body. She wrapped herself in the sheet and stood beside the bed. Using part of the sheet, she wiped the blood from Derek's back. She heard the gasp and then the roar. "Damn you, child, you test my patience here. I can not see the man now but I see you clear enough to kill you."
Sarina turned away from it. She focused on Derek as he sat up in the bed.
"Who are you talking to, Sarina?"
"Derek, I need to tell you this now. I can not put it off any longer. Listen well." She watched the thing as it moved towards her. She was not afraid now. She knew it could do little to nothing in the day light. "After you went into the house and saw your parents, I tried to pull you outside. You refused to come with me, instead, staying where you were, staring back at your Father. He smiled at you and you looked back at me, as if asking me what you should do. You searched for a safe place in your mind. Though I was young, I knew somehow that the only safe place for you was in my tiny arms. I reached for you..."
"And you held me to you. You kissed me, not like a child would kiss, but truly kissed me like an adult kisses. My mind slowed down a little and I watched father over your shoulder as we kissed. He stood up and reached down to pick up Mother. I knew he was dead and yet there he was, carrying Mother towards the door. Grammie met them at the door. I can still hear her soft voice. I expected her to tell us to stop kissing but she didn't. I am there, Sarina. Shall I continue?"
"Yes, Derek, oh yes, do not stop."
"You can not leave this way, Calvin. You must go the way you are meant to go. I should have been here to save you but now, I will have to save your son."
After Grammie was finished talking, I heard Father speak. "He is very young, Katherine. He will need to be comforted and be given a safe place to go."
"Yes Calvin, I will keep him and watch over him. Sarina will be his soul-mate and keep watch over his body. He has seen you now and I will need to separate that from his soul. He is confused and angry that you have left him. I can feel that inside."
"Put it where it can not escape and hurt him, Katherine. The old shed will do fine. It can not harm him as long as you keep it confined."
"Go now, Calvin, take Victoria with you and find peace. Derek will be safe with I and Sarina. She too knows what must be done here. I have taught her over the years."
"I watched Father and Mother disappear in to the air. I didn't understand where their bodies had gone. I remember my body convulsing and felt the rage explode inside of me. The one responsible for my parents death was never found. He had taken nothing from the house. Father must have tried to stop him and the man killed both of my parents."
"It was not a man that killed them, Derek. It was something not of this realm. Grammie knew the art of Black Magic. She was trying to bring back a friend so that she could talk to them. Something went wrong and something evil came instead. It wasn't done after killing your parents. It wanted more. You could not fight it and somehow, it took a part of you to make itself take human form." Sarina could hear the creature growling as she told the story. She knew it wanted her to stop. "I made a deal with it. If it would let you live, I would let it take my most precious possession. Grammie was trying to send it back and did not see what I was doing."
Derek looked at her through questioning eyes. He didn't need to ask what she had given the creature but he needed to know how. Sarina could see it in his eyes, the tears running fast down her face. He shook his head from side to side.
"Why???? Why did you do that?!?! How could you let that... thing, take something so dear? Damn, Sarina, why didn't you just let it have me?!?!?!"
She cried harder and buried her face in her hands. "Damn You, Derek! I did it for you because I loved you more than life itself! I could Not let that thing take you away from me."
"It became like me, Sarina. I see it now. You thought I was too entranced to noticed but I did see. The creature knew I was watching and reveled in that fact. He took pleasure knowing I would remember this for the rest of my life. Part of me hated you for what you did. Part of me fell deeply in Love with you that day."
"Derek, please don't hate me for what I did. I sacrificed it for you."
"How did the evil part of me, the side the creature created, how did it get into the shed?"
"Oh look," came the low growl from the room, "You have wasted the day away. Soon it will be dark again and when it is, I will kill you Sarina. If he finds a way to lose his anger, I will cease to exist. We can't have that now, can we?"
"I will find a way to show him how deep and strong my love is. I will tell him how Grammie captured you and locked you in the shed. When he knows it all, you will be the one that dies!"
"You won't get that chance," the creature hissed. "watch me as I reach out with my claws and strip the skin from his body, just like I did with dear old Grammie. Here comes the da-r-r-r-rk!" The laughter rang out through the house. Sarina covered her ears as Derek watched, trying to figure out what she was closing out. He saw blood trickling from Sarina's hands. What he did not see was the claws that tore at her skin.
"Derek, hold me! I will tell you the end of the story so that we can be free at last. I will tell you how Grammie captured this creature and why you must face your anger and destroy it. Go back once more, Love. Find a way to close the door and never open the door again. Hurry", she whispered through painful breathing, "Hurry Derek, before I die."
