E.G.G Episode 60.1: Starting Over

Updated on December 18, 2015

AND THERE CAME A DAY, A DARK DAY. A DAY WHERE THE LIVES OF THREE FRIENDS WERE SINGLEHANDEDLY DESTROYED. BUT THAT DAY HAS BEEN PREVENTED. NOW, AFTER FALLING PREY TO THE HANDS OF THE MANDARIN, E.G.G WILL HAVE TO SUFFER THE FALLOUT FROM THEIR ENCOUNTER.

Previously, on E.G.G...

Josh tracked down the source of A.I.M's benefactor, which turned out to be none other than The Mandarin. After his plane crashed, Josh partnered up with Lee Mei, a pregnant Chinese woman that survived the crash, and tracked The Mandarin to his palace. After a hard fought battle, Iron Man eventually intervened and stopped The Mandarin, scattering his Ten Makluan Rings of Power all over the globe. Josh found one...

Meanwhile, in E.G.G Base, Spider-Man 2099 finally caught up to James, who beat him in battle and dragged him back to the year 2099, leaving Eileen heart broken and triggering her transformation into Darkstream. James had a change of heart, revealing he only bounty hunted to avenge the death of his parents, and he and Spider-Man 2099 went back in time to help Kyle Rice and the Wolfpack stop Darkstream, injecting her with Xtractor, and destroying Darkstream for good.

Episode 60.1

-Starting Over-

James and Spider-Man 2099 stood in E.G.G Base just outside of the medical bay, waiting. Trevino, who was a trained medic as well as tactician, was doing all he could to revive Eileen. Her body had undergone much strain when she transformed into Darkstream, and undoing the damage would be a tedious process. Spider-Man 2099 cleared his throat and broke the silence.

“So…” He said to James. “You really had no idea Eileen was Darkstream?”

“None!” James replied.

“And she told you she was Lightstream? Lightstream, Darkstream, you didn’t make that connection?”

“I always thought Darkstream was Lightstream’s evil half-sister or something.”

“… Wow.”

“The textbooks were very vague, okay!”

“Sure, sure. You know that all of this never would have happened if you didn’t follow me through that time portal back at Sloan’s lab, right?”

“I know, I was dumb. But, then I never would have met Eileen.”

“Hm, point taken.”

“You know, I don’t think I’d have fought you if I’d known you were trying to save her.”

“Well thanks for telling me that now.” Spider-Man 2099 replied. “You know, after I was almost dissected…”

“I said I was sorry!” James apologized.

“No, no, it’s cool.”

“Oh, okay. Good.”

“… I’m just saying though, the guy was gonna cut off my head.”

“Okay, you’re not gonna let this go, are you?”

“No, no I’m not.” Suddenly a small device on Spider-Man 2099’s wrist began to beep. He tapped it. “Fortunately for you I’m going home, so you don’t need to hear me complain about it anymore.”

“You wanna use my time portal?” James asked.

“Yeah, that’d be nice. I have a few stops to make in the time stream though, so wait like, an hour before you shut it down.”

“Okay. Got it.”

“What about you?” James looked at him.

“What about me?” He asked.

“Well, after Eileen is back up to full health, you gonna come back to 2099?” James inhaled.

“There’s nothing for me there.” He said. “Eileen is here, and I love her. A lot. So, no, I don’t think I’ll be going back to 2099.” Spider-Man 2099 smiled and patted his back.

“Good choice.” He said. He spun a web to James’s time portal room and swung off. The very next second Josh walked into the base. James jumped in fear.

“Josh!” He exclaimed. Josh looked around in confusion. He saw the smashed main terminal, scorches and scratches on the wall, the wrecked Inner Shell and Feeding Pen, webs lying everywhere, and James standing in the middle of it all.

“What the shell…” He said. “Collins! What happened in here?”

“Well, I uh… um… uh… and uh…” James was at a loss for words.

“Spit it out man!” Josh exclaimed.

“A black hole!” Josh raised his eyebrows.

“A black hole?”

“Yep. Big one. Opened up right in the middle of the Inner Shell.”

“…Okay… How?”

“I’m sorry, what?”

“How did a black hole open up in the middle of E.G.G Base?”

“Oh! How! Haha, well, funny story. Acacia was making a, uh… black hole… generator… thingy.” James smiled to conceal his lack of confidence.

“Acacia?”

“Yep.”

“Made a black hole.”

“You got it.”

“… I really should have fired her when I had the chance.” Josh said. “Where is she by the way? And Eileen?”

“Oh, uh, Acacia’s with Eileen in the medical bay,” James answered. “and Eileen, uh, she got sucked into the black hole!”

“She got what!?” Josh shouted.

“Well, it spit her back out! But… she was pretty banged up, so she’s in the medical bay.”

“Eileen got sucked into a black hole? Why am I just now hearing about this!”

“Well, we couldn’t contact you, so…” Just then Trevino emerged from the medical bay.

“She’s alright.” He said. “She’ll be conscious in no time. Just try to avoid any…”

“What are you doing here!” Josh exclaimed.

“Um, S.H.I.E.L.D sent some agents to deal with the black hole.” James quickly lied.

“Black hole?” Trevino asked. James cut him a quick look. “Right, sure, black hole, whatever.” He left the base and walked out of Grand Central station, where a repair crew was fixing the hole in the floor. He walked across the street and up to the roof, where Milan, Rice, Squirrel Girl, and Director Nick Fury were waiting with Rice’s flying car, Charonte, parked nearby.

“You did good work today agent.” Fury said to Rice.

“Couldn’t have done it without my team sir.” Rice replied.

“Good to know. Well, I guess your assignment here is done. When you’re ready, head on up to the Helicarrier and I’ll give you your next assignment. All of you.”

“Hecks yeah!” Milan cheered. “The Wolfpack back in action!”

“Hu-ha!” Trevino shouted into air.

“Ooh! Ooh! Can I come too?” Squirrel Girl asked. They all looked at her.

“I’m sure we can find a position for you at S.H.I.E.L.D.” Fury answered. Squirrel Girl’s eye lit up.

“You mean…” She gasped. Fury nodded.

“Yes, you can be a S.H.I.E.L.D Agent.”

“YIPPEE!!!!!” Squirrel Girl shouted, leaping in circles around the roof. Fury smiled and shook his head. Trevino put his arm around Rice.

“So, ready for the Wolfpack to dive back into the jaws of death?” He asked. Rice looked at his team.

“Actually,” he said. “I’m not.”

“Say what!” Milan exclaimed.

“Dude!” Trevino added.

“Listen, you guys are great.” Rice said. “And we’ve had some incredible times together, but I think I’m needed elsewhere.”

“And where’s more important than with your team?” Milan asked. Rice turned to Fury.

“Director Fury, in the past months I’ve been observing E.G.G, they’ve gotten themselves into all kinds of life threatening yet avoidable situations, some I even prevented from happening. Sir, I don’t think these guys can survive another week on their own. With your permission, I’d like to join E.G.G.”

“Really.” Fury said, stroking his goatee.

“Yeah, I can keep an eye on them, add a much needed skillset to their ranks, and maybe get some free time off…”

“Sabrina.” Fury deduced.

“I loved seeing her again, but with the Wolfpack, it’s nonstop action, mission after mission, and I’d normally be all for it, but…” He turned to his team. “You guys understand, right?”

“No.” Trevino replied.

“But we get it.” Milan said. “Let him join up with these losers Fury. Judging by what happened today, they need him more than we do.” Fury thought for a bit.

“Westbrook’s not gonna like it.” He said. Rice smirked.

“Let me deal with him.” He turned to Squirrel Girl. “Meet me back at the apartment. I have a surprise for you.”

“Okay!” She said, rushing off. Rice got into his car.

“Hey buddy!” Trevino called. Rice looked at them. Trevino and Milan crossed their arms across their chests.

“Wolfpack, hu-ha!” They both shouted. Rice smiled and nodded.

“Hu-ha.” He said, as he powered up his car and took to the skies.

Miguel O’Hara walked up a grassy hill and over to a house sitting at the top. He knelt down behind the bushes. Just then Charlie came rushing out of the door.

“I’m gone!” He called.

“Charlie! Not so fast!” A female voice replied.

“Mom, I’m already late for my date with Ally!”

“How are you gonna pay for your date without your wallet?” The voice replied, her hand coming out of the door and handing him his wallet. Miguel peeked up a bit further.

“Her?” He asked. “No way…”

“Thanks mom.” Charlie said, leaning and kissing her in the cheek. “Later dad!”

“See ya Charlie!” Josh’s voice called from the house. Miguel smiled.

“Big happy family.” He said. Charlie was rushing down the hill when he stopped, and looked towards the bushes.

“Hello?” He called. Miguel walked out.

“Don’t mind me, door to door salesman.” He said.

“Right, sure.” Charlie said.

“Hey, um, kid.” Miguel called. Charlie turned. “Would you say you have a happy life?”

“Hm, yeah, I guess.” He replied. “A shock of a lot better than 2099.” Miguel jumped.

“Wait, you remember?” Charlie smiled and nodded.

“Thank you Miguel.” He said. “For everything.”

“Yeah, it was no problem. Your mom though, never saw that coming!”

“I know right! Well, I’m gonna go see Ally, who’s alive, just like you promised.”

“Glad to help.” Miguel said, as Charlie turned and took off. Miguel smiled. “Certainly glad to help.” He tapped his wrist. “Lyla, take me to 2099.”

“As you wish Miguel.” She replied. And in a flash of blue light, he was gone. Seconds later, he appeared in his Babylon Towers apartment, which was good as new.

“So far so good…” He said.

“Migy? Is that you?” He turned quickly to see Dana walk into the door.

“Dana!” He happily cried, rushing up and hugging her.

“Whoa there O’Hara!” She shouted. “Slow your role. I don’t like you like that!” Miguel paused.

“Wait, so we’re not engaged?” He asked.

“No! Are you shocked in the head!” Dana replied. Miguel groaned.

“Shock it all…” He said to himself. He looked up. “Well, I love you Dana!”

“What! Where is all this coming from?” She asked.

“My heart!” He shouted. “I want you to marry me!” Dana backed up.

“I’m gonna call Gabe…” She said. “And I’m gonna tell him to come here and… keep you company…” She rushed out of the room. Miguel sighed.

“Well, at least she’s alive.” He said. He turned on the news.

“As the new CEO of Alchamax,” An elderly man in a lab jacket said, addressing the public. “I, Tyler Stone, vow that I will stop at nothing to bring in this masked menace, Spider-Man!”

“Oh come on!” Miguel shouted.

“Ouch.” Lyla added.

“Oh quiet you.” He said. Venture then walked out next to Stone.

“Meet our latest venture in human cybernetics. He will bring this Spider-Man to justice!” Miguel turned off the T.V.

“Sloan, Stone, I traded one obsessive maniac for another.” He sighed. “Oh well. Lyla, chart a course for Idaho. I need to make sure what I’m looking for is still there.”

“Yes Miguel.” Lyla stated. “The hovercraft will be ready in 20 minutes.” Miguel walked up to his computer and began typing.

“I feel bad, Lyla, using Charlie and the future E.G.G like that…”

“You were on a mission Miguel.” She replied.

“Yeah, but I lied. Charlie really thought I was doing it for them.”

“He does have a better life.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Computer, search names Acacia and Fumiko Wuthrich.” The computer beeped and brought up two profiles. Miguel tapped the screen and opened them. “Still alive to this day… yada, yada, inherited E.G.G… blah, blah, each have kids to carry on their legacy. Good. Computer, search name James Collins.”

“Searching…” The computer said. “No match found.”

“What? Try again. Extend the range.”

“Searching. 10 matches found.” Miguel scrolled through the matches.

“None of these are him…” He said. “That means he was never born… Shock and awe, I wiped him from existence!”

“Then it is a good thing he decided not to come back.” Lyla said. “Otherwise he would have faded away.”

“Right…” Miguel said. “Good thing…”

Eileen slowly opened her eyes.

“What happened?” She asked. Acacia jumped up.

“Eileen!” She shouted.

“AH!” Eileen screamed, rolling out of the bed.

“Oops, sorry!” Acacia apologized. “Didn’t mean to scare you.”

“Well, you did!” She replied. She sat up as Acacia knelt next to her. “Am I… fixed?”

“Yeah, get this, Spider-Man 2099 came and injected you with some Xtractor stuff that got rid of your mutant side and that creepy Darkstream part of you I never want to see again!”

“Oh, he was here, I remember…” Eileen said. Then she jumped. “James!”

“He’s waiting for you outside.” Acacia said. Eileen sighed in relief.

“Thank goodness.” She said. “I really like him Acacia.”

“I know you do.” Acacia replied. Eileen looked at her hands.

“So, no more Lightstream, huh?”

“Well…” Acacia said, taking out a vial of green liquid. “I wouldn’t say that.”

“What is that Acacia?” Eileen asked, grabbing it.

“Extremis 3.0,” Acacia replied. “I snagged a vial from Maya’s lab just before Josh burned it. If I’m right, it should give you your powers back.”

“Wow Acacia, I don’t know what to say…”

“Um, ‘Acacia, you’re the most awesomest bff ever’ will suffice.” Acacia said, putting her hands on her hips. Eileen smiled and hugged Acacia.

“Acacia, you’re the most awesomest bff ever.”

“Why thank you Eileen!” Acacia beamed. Eileen looked down at the vial.

“You know what? After that whole Darkstream scare, I think I’m gonna lay low on the superhero scene for a while.”

“You sure about that?” Acacia asked.

“If the world needs Lightstream, then I’ll suit up. But until then, I’ll keep this somewhere safe. Until I really need it.” Acacia smiled.

“Well, it’s your choice.” Just then Josh walked in.

“Eileen!” He exclaimed. “You’re up, thank goodness! Man, I can’t believe you got sucked into a black hole!”

“Black hole?” Eileen and Acacia asked simultaneously.

“Yes!” James firmly stated from the door. “Black. Hole.”

“Oooohhhh…” The girls replied, again simultaneously.

“Right, it was, huge, and… deadly!” Acacia lied.

“I’m sure it was.” Josh replied. “But it’s nothing compared to what happed to me! I fought… The Mandarin!” Everyone stared blankly at him. “The Mandarin? Really guys! Evil Chinese warlord, ten rings of power, Iron Man’s worst enemy!”

“Right…” Acacia said.

“Um… Good job?” Eileen said. Josh frowned.

“I hate you all.” He said, storming out of the room. “I’m underappreciated! You’re all just jealous because nobody named their baby after you!” Josh turned the corner and was gone.

“He needs help.” Acacia said. She looked to see Eileen and James awkwardly staring at each other. “Oh… I um, think I forgot something in the lab…” She slowly scooted out of the room. “I guess I’ll just… leave you two alone for a minute…” She slowly closed the door. After a few minutes of silence, James cleared his throat.

“So…” He began.

“We’re through.” Eileen said.

“Wait, what!”

“I’m breaking up with you.”

“That is completely unfair!”

“You never told me you were from the future, you trapped me twice today, you almost left forever without as much as a goodbye, and because of you I turned into that… thing.”

“… Well when you put it like that, it does seem kind of bad…” James sulked and fell onto a bed. “I guess I’d break up with me too.”

“I’m glad you agree.” Eileen said. “Now, James Collins, will you be my boyfriend?” James looked up in confusion.

“Wait, huh? I’m confused.”

“We’re starting over.” Eileen hinted.

“Oooh, okay. Well then, yes, only if you promise to be my girlfriend.”

“I promise.” Eileen said. She stood up and the two embraced.

Rice walked up the stairs to his S.H.I.E.L.D sanctioned apartment to see Squirrel Girl running in circles in front of the door.

“I can’t wait to see my surprise!” She exclaimed.

“I know you can’t.” Rice replied, opening the door. She rushed in to see Sabrina sitting on the bed.

“Hi there!” Sabrina exclaimed, standing to greet them.

“Squirrel Girl, this is my girlfriend, Sabrina.” Rice introduced. Squirrel Girl gasped.

“No way!” She said.

“Kyle’s told me a lot about you.” Sabrina said. “He told me you had no one to look after you. So, we actively decided that, if you’ll take us, we want to adopt you into our family.” Squirrel Girl’s eyes watered.

“Are you… serious?” She asked.

“Yep.” Rice said, putting his arm around Sabrina. “We want you with us.” Squirrel Girl excitedly hugged them both.

“Yes! Yes! Yes! Of course I’ll accept!” She cried. “Ohh, I’m so, so, so happy!”

“I’m glad to hear it Squirrel Girl.” Sabrina said.

“Oh, my name is Doreen Green! Dory for short!” She exclaimed.

“What? You told me you didn’t have a real name!” Kyle recalled.

“I lied!” She excitedly replied. “So… I’m your daughter?”

“Once we fill out the paperwork, it’s official.” Sabrina said.

“YIPPEE!!!!” Squirrel Girl happily pranced around the room on all fours.

“You were right,” Sabrina whispered. “She is a little ball of energy.”

“Now she’s our little ball of energy.” Kyle said, hugging Sabrina.

“At least when you’re not with the Wolfpack…” Sabrina said sadly.

“I turned ‘em down.” Sabrina looked up.

“What? You turned Tristan and Justin down?”

“Yeah, I wanted to be able to spend more time with you and our newly acquired daughter, so I joined E.G.G instead.” Sabrina looked at him.

“You sure that Westbrook guy you keep telling me about is gonna be okay with that?” Kyle smiled.

“Like I told Director Fury, let me deal with him.” The two kissed as Squirrel Girl happily became part of her new family.

“Oh, my name is Doreen Green! Dory for short!”

Miguel stepped into an abandoned field, with acres and acres wilted grass. He began to walk when she stepped on something. He put on a pair of rubber gloves and picked it up, a large chunk of metal, one of the many skipped over pieces during the cleanup of Mother Egg. He rubbed it. It was rusted after years of decay.

“Lyla, scan for contamination.” Miguel said, holding a small device up to it, which scanned the metal.

“Fingerprints detected, aged at 84 years, match belonging to James Collins. This does not affect the composition of the metal.”

“Excellent.” Miguel said, smiling. “The first time I came here Darkstream burned all of this in her fire, but now that I’ve prevented the Dark Day, the field is still here, along with the metal! This particular alloy’s makeup was used specifically in Mother Egg, I detected it when I visited the first time. Sorry to say that it being destroyed during my second visit was the best thing that could have happened to me!” He shoved the piece into a sling he had over his shoulder.

“Why did you not just collect the pieces while you were back in time?” Lyla asked.

“Because it had to be aged over 50 years old. This was the only way. Now let’s go find the other pieces. With luck, I can find just as much as I need to finally stop Alchamax once and for all!” Miguel began to traverse the field, picking up every little piece of Mother Egg that was left behind.

Josh was sitting in a monitor room, spinning in a chair and fiddling with the Mandarin’s green ring when Eileen knocked twice and walked in. Josh pocketed the ring.

“Hey Josh.” She said.

“I’m not talking to you.” Josh said.

“Hey, I suddenly realized that taking down the Mandarin is a really big deal!”

“You Googled him, didn’t you?”

“Yep.” She said, sitting in another chair. “Sorry.”

“It’s cool.” She sat for a bit, then took a breath.

“I want to tell you something… about James.” She said.

“What about him?”

“James, he’s… he’s not from around here.”

“… Like what do you mean?”

“He’s… he’s from the future. The year 2099 to be exact.”

“Oh, well I already knew that.”

“What! How!”

“Because he says shock all the time. You didn’t pick up on that?”

“I… well… I actually thought he was the one that started the trend.”

“Psh, there’s no way I’m gonna let Collins start a trend! In fact, I’m gonna start saying shock! I’ll start the trend!”

“If you’re only saying it because James says it, then technically, he still started the trend.” Josh frowned.

“Get out.” He said. Eileen laughed.

“Whatever you say.” She stood up and left. Josh pulled the ring out of his pocket.

“Jocasta? You up? And not listening to James anymore?”

“I am fully functional.” She replied.

“Good. The application of these rings could be of use to E.G.G tech, but I’m not sure one is enough. I need you to analyze this and trace the Makluan signature, see I you can maybe find the others.”

“It will be done. Shall I save this in the project folder?”

“No, let’s keep this one incognito. Open a new file. Designation: Ringleader.”

“Confirmed. Operation Ringleader, online.” Suddenly Acacia burst into the room.

“Josh!” She shouted. “There’s something going on out there! I think a portal just opened in the Inner Shell!”

“What the shell, er, shock! Hasn’t enough happened for one day!” He followed Acacia to the Inner Shell where Eileen and James were staring in horror at the portal that had opened up.

“Should we go in?” Josh asked. Suddenly fire spewed out of the portal. Everyone screamed and jumped back. “Okay, nobody go in!” Just then a woman was thrown through the portal and slammed against the wall. The portal closed as Josh, Eileen, James, and Acacia all rushed to her aid. Her clothes were shreds and she was badly burned in various places on her body.

“What happened to her?” Acacia asked. Josh flipped her around to see that it was none other than the Enchantress.

“Amora?” Josh asked. Suddenly she opened her eyes and gasped. Everyone jumped back, startled, as she grabbed Josh by the collar.

“He… is… coming….” She gasped, eyes widened in terror.

“What? Who Amora? Who’s coming?” She opened her mouth to speak, but her eyes rolled to the back of her head and her hand went limp. All of the agents of E.G.G looked at each other, in confusion, and in fear.

Instead of the Season Finale review, I'm just going to wrap everything up in the Season 3 Review, tomorrow, Dec. 19! Tune in to get a review of all the top moments from Season 3, and a sneak peak into Season 4, and a few really big announcements! So see you then!

Well, that was a nice little wrap up. What's your favorite part about 60.1?
