For Every Good Woman, There Should Be Ten Good Men

Updated on September 21, 2013

For Every Good Woman, There Should Be Ten Good Men

One to hold her hand when she is afraid

One to pine after when he is away

One to wipe her tears when she cries

One to make her laugh when he knows not why

For Every Good Woman, There Should Be Ten Good Men

One to march with her when her mind is made

One to escort her when she needs promenade

One to feather her nest when she needs peace

One to lie beside her when she falls asleep

For Every Good Woman, There Should Be Ten Good Men

One to rock her gently

One to rock her slowly

For Every Good Woman, There Should Be Ten Good Men

Hopefully all these ten good men are wrapped into one. If we have to deal with guys, one is enough.

      Enjoyed this.

I think I'll just keep my mouth shut other than to tell you I loved the poem. :)

Voted way up, loved it...that being said, I've learned so much about men throughout my life, by trial and error, mostly error. :)

Here is what I say about a good woman: she deserves a man who will swim through shark infested waters to be with her, or ride a bicycle to California from New York just to see her face, will climb to the top of a mountain to rescue her, plus all that you wrote above.

Because when all is said and done, it is not the talk...anyone can say anything...it's the walk...the behavior of a person, that reveals the real heart inside. So I personally would say to all men, everywhere, who cares about a good woman...don't tell her that...SHOW her.

Great poem, and I agree with every single line. A good woman deserves all of that. Blessings, Sparklea :)

      wetnosedogs,

I totally agree. Thanks for "enjoying this." I enjoyed writing it.

      Bill,

Thank you for "loving my poem," and I bet if we were to ask your lady, she would say you are all of them. : )

      Sparklea,

Thank You for "voting way up," and for adding such interesting challenges for just the right man.

      Blessings to all of you,

Thank you, Kim, for this poem, light and even humorous on the surface, but inside hiding some profound insights about life in the everyday lane.

I agree with Billy Buc, the less a man, as a man, says on this one, the better off he is, except to hope, more in line with wetnosedogs, that each woman someday may find a diversely strong-enough man she can love basically as he is, which should not be that hard, women also being imperfect (or at least so I've heard it said).

As for swimming through Sparklea's shark-infested waters (to upstate New York?), I think I'll pass on that one too. But the good news is, Sparklea won't expect true love from me anyway so long as I keep trying to tell her I love her by writing to her the best poetry I can possibly write.

Seriously, we cannot let the frequent misuse of insincere words diminish the value of language for expressing love, any more than we can let the universal inability to find a perfect mate diminish the value of loving most dearly the actual ones who come our way.

Here once again, as always, Kim first captures our attention, then challenges us to reflect and see important truth about life.

Great words! I was very controversial as a coach. I played my teams against anyone. Even though the "powers that be' called my teams mixed. If anything, a lot of people gained a better understanding of sexes.

      Max,

Thank you for your response: "Seriously, we cannot let the frequent misuse of insincere words diminish the value of language for expressing love, any more than we can let the universal inability to find a perfect mate diminish the value of loving most dearly the actual ones who come our way." I love how you are able to read into my work.

      Martin,

I am glad to know that you are the sensible non-sexist person I thought you to be.

      Michael and Wayne,

Thank you for liking my poem.

Best Wishes to all on this beautiful first day of fall,

I love your poem, it WAS beautiful. I strive to be the man that is all of those ten men in one its not hard if its something you really want. Women is Gods Gift to man This is not my opinion for the bible tells us this. And as a gift from God she should always be treated as such. There is no place in the world that a man can go and get the same comfort of a woman. It is by no means possible so your ten men is accurately put because inn today society a lot of men are not living up to the status that we should when it come so our Precious women! Great Job!

Although I am not perfect I try by best to be a lot of the things we do in relationships are extra and unneeded most of the time. I am glad you enjoyed my article I had it up a minute and had to do some revising. I see You have a very high hub score whats your secret?

      VINCENTB,

I know that I am far from perfect...and so is my hub score : - )

I am not sure anyone on HP truly understands how to get the "Big" scores, but I do know those folks who write evergreen articles tend to do the best. I think "evergreen" means that the articles will be of interest to a lot of people over long periods of time.

I could tell by reading your piece that you have a warm heart, and if there is a lady in your life, she is very lucky.

So glad to have you here on hub pages.

Happy Autumn to you and yours,

      Kim

Awesome, Kim! Yes, all these ten men need to truly be all rolled into the one and that is all that one needs in this life. My husband might be a bit upset if there were nine other men, but he knows he is the ten and then some!

Love how you think ... and write!

      Up and more and sharing

Thank you for your up and sharing. I really do appreciate that kind of support.

Voted up, funny, awesome, beautiful, and liked on FB Kim. Well, I'm lost for words :) If I had to be one of the ten men to rock a women, I'd hope I'd be the last one, the one that wraps his arms around her and says, "I love you always." I could be the first one also, he's the one that wakes up and leaves to go to work!! Either way :)

      Michele,

Greetings! Sounds like you are very lucky. I am sure your fellow is also very lucky to have you in his life. I agree that one good man is all one needs. The idea behind the poem was that it just takes that one man to provide a lot of different types of support. Thanks for the vote. I will be over to check out your hubs.

And I am trying really hard to tap back into my strength. For the longest time, I not only stood up for others, I stood up for myself. Then, somehow, over a period of time, I became lost and became an easy target. Women like you serve as inspiration. Thank You.
