Forgive and Be Forgiven
By letting go of past hurts,we can heal not only ourselves, but our families, our communities, and our world.
— Desmund TutuForgive and be forgiven
With past mistakes and shortcomings
Experience a light feeling
In being at peace with oneself
Forgive and be forgiven
Like a prisoner freed from prison
Throwing away negative energies
and starting to attract positive vibes
A glowing aura radiates from within
The Lord never tires of forgiving, it is we who tires of asking for forgiveness.
— Pope FrancisForgive and be forgiven
A happier disposition might show in you
Leaving the past behind
Letting go with whatever bothers you
Forgive and heal yourself
To break free of traumas gone through
Breakdown walls of selfish pride
Living a fuller life, a reward to reap afterward
About This Poem
This poem I wrote is about forgiveness. Recent researches found out the profound impact of a forgiving heart on our health and wellness. We need to forgive in order to heal and live a fuller life.
Forgiveness
Are you willing to forgive and ask for forgiveness?
The relevance of forgiveness according to Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Researches on the healing power of forgiveness are now growing in numbers. One of its findings unfolds that people who are forgiving are more healthy which is manifested in having better mental health and lesser physical symptoms of stress.
I understand that it is not easy to forgive since the traumas felt live in our memories for so many years and would become fresh and vivid when we recall them. But, it is said to be the only way to experience healing and peace in ourselves.
When we forgive, we free ourselves from the traumas and hardships we experienced and thus get the opportunity to get back and take control of the life we want. As we forgive in our families as members of the old generation, we open the door to healthy, supportive, and harmonious relationships among younger generations.
Forgiveness is a choice and our ability to forgive others derived from the recognition that we are not perfect and we have our shortcomings. Forgiveness is considered the grace by which we give another person the chance to get up, make amends and stand up with dignity to start anew.
If we really want to love; we must learn how to forgive.
