Freedom Is A Choice
Freedom
Freedom of mind, allows the spirit to soar !
What is freedom exactly? Why are we so limited by fear? What is it that truly keeps us captivated? What is it that truly imprisons our spirit and our being?
I ponder these questions as they churn in my mind. I contemplate the human life existence, as an American citizen and a human being. I rummage through the attic in my mind as I search for clarity. I review the memories I treasure and I discard those that have decayed.
Freedom.... I examine the word and the meaning of FREEDOM :"The quality or state of being free; the absence of necessity, coercion or restraint in choice or action" (Merriam-Webster Online). I ask myself what this word means to me in my own definition and I would have to say that Freedom to me is based on, "Choice". A "Choice" to be free by means of my thoughts, my actions and deeds. Freedom to me is valued more than money, gold or pocessions. Freedom is like good health. When we take care of ourselves physically and mentally, we thrive in life. When we have freedom, of mind and spirit, we thrive in life as well. Freedom is a healthy state of mind, that we must give ourselves permission to possess.
We are each responsible for our own being. No one else makes choices for us without our permission. I invite you to give yourself permission to align yourself in the light of God, as you put down your shield and armor. Freedom is as easy as a choice. Freedom, in my opinion, is also based on Good and Bad. What I mean by this is that we are all conditioned to believe one way or another. We are all born with freedom, although, some may feel the need to abuse this freedom. Let me dig deeper to explain what I mean. If we are born with choice, and we are raised and conditioned to believe and think one way rather than another, we will tend to express ourselves in words and actions by how we have been conditioned. Lets take for example the child that grows up in an abusive home verses a loving home. The child grows to understand that their environment in which they have grown up in, is considered safe in their mind. Regardless of abuse or not. It is a conditioning. However, an innate belief system that we are in alignment with , guides us to know our truth. To understand Freedom, is to appreciate with gratitude the ability to make choices freely . To make choices that align with our higher good. To make choices that in turn honor and respect ourselves and those around us. We are each created in the image of God. His main ingredient in creating us is LOVE. Freedom is a gift we give ourselves by choice.
Fear..... I examine the word FEAR verses LIMITATION. What is it that I fear?, I ask myself. I ponder this word. What do you fear? Fear is defined differently for each person. Fear is; "A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil or pain etc., the feeling or condition of being afraid." (dictionary.reference.com). As for my interpretation, fear is based on the limitations we create for ourselves, based on our conditioning and experiences. The boundaries that we set for ourselves are the limitations that we create for ourselves. Limitations are what mark our boundaries. We are each programmed and conditioned to be who we are. For each person, limitations and fear differ. There is truly no wrong or right fear. It is really based on life experiences. A big key word in the definition of fear is that it is an EMOTION. Emotions are conditioned beliefs. Emotions of any kind can be examined and altered by choice. I invite you to take a look at you and see where you have limitations and fears. Find understanding within yourself . For you are the only one that sets the limitations for you.
Captivation....defined as: " To influence and dominate by some special charm."(Merriam-Webster Online). What is it that influences you? Who influences you? I examine these questions myself. What is it that influences me? I answer this with a pure open heart, as I have to admit that respect, love and ambition is what influences me. I influence me. I am my greatest teacher, my bestest friend and my lifelong companion. I realize I am speaking in the third person. But truly, it is truth. Just like you will be with you for the rest of your life. Yes, we can get into the subject of religion and God, however this article is not focused on religion or God. God is and always will be in my heart and mind, yet for another article. As my focus is on understanding the human psyche and behaviors.
Getting back to captivation; in my opinion we program our belief systems by what we feed our heart and soul and mind . It is how we nurture ourselves. "We are what we eat", is how the saying goes and so it is.
I have read that our heart is stronger than our mind and that our heart truly knows our truce. Yet what we feed our mind with is what we base our understanding of existence on. There seems to be a silent battle at times, between the heart and the mind. When we are able to be in silence, we find our peace that exists with an open heart. The heart knows best ;0)
So what is it that truly imprisons our spirit? Is it the human body? Is it the heart or the mind? I ponder these questions. Possibly the answer is all of the above. Possibly to live a life of Freedom is truly based on our understanding of what freedom means to you and me. Possibly Freedom, when in alignment with our truce, is the greatest gift we give ourselves as we inspire those around us.

FREEDOM
Love the life you lead
There is no reason to beg and plead.
You are the writer,
The main character who plays the lead.
God is the boss
You are at no loss
When you trust in your source
Birds of a feather flock together
As you nurture your mind and spirit for better
Being responsible for whatever tether
Freedom is a choice of weather
Not a garment made of leather
Bonded by choice
No need to fear my dear
Freedom is your right
Speak up so all can hear!
