how to write great content

Updated on January 29, 2013

What is an Evergreen Article?

Technically an Evergreen article is an article that people search for in search engines year around, a topic that is never dated always timeless. Topics that get searched for 24/7 365, such as relationships,DIY articles, how to articles, etc. Some examples of non-evergreen material may be topics likes current events, celebrity gossip, sports, etc. This is all true and valid information for the writer that writes strictly for money or the writer that wants a steady flow of traffic to their material, but the term "Evergreen" doesn't necessarily mean it is the standard for writing nor does it make someones work irrelevant!

Perception:

Does writing about whatever makes you happy make your work non-evergreen material? NO, in my perception "Evergreen" material comes from within,it comes from the heart. If you write for an income all you probably think about is that next evergreen article that is gonna bring in traffic and that is great, that means you are on a mission for commission and you cant and wont be stopped. With that being said this article is not for you. This article is for the beginners like myself, the ones who want to write but don't know what to write about, the writers who's punctuation and and grammar are sub par or just flat out suck, the writer that just want to write. When I got started I got caught up in trying to think of evergreen articles, all it did was confuse me and it clouded my mind. I'm past those days, I believe in my opinion an "evergreen" is not an article it is a state of mind.

BE YOURSELF:

Whether you are a beginner or a professional writer all the material you write should be viewed as an evergreen article. You may want to write about your childhood memories or your first big acheivement in life, all that matters is that its evergreen to you. If you are proud of it then people will be proud for you. Ultimately, there are no rules to writing, no script to follow, its just you and your thoughts coming together and making a beautiful thing happen. Whatever your skill level, just have the confidence to know someone think your articles are "evergreen".
