Her Lost Love

Updated on January 29, 2012

Her Lost Love

To lose someone who you thought you

would spend the rest of your life with is

heartbreaking.

We all have ups and downs in a

relationship, I know I too have

experienced it. How unfair to

experience this especially at

the beginning of a new year.

This has happened recently to a

friend of mine and I tried to comfort

her as best as I could.

I hope this poem will help her in

just a small way.

Her Lost Love

Lost is the feeling of his tender touch

Words are all she has and memories to hold

How can there be truth in this world of deception

Knowing the difference between lies and truth

She feels a chill go down her spine

As the dream becomes reality

All the hopes and trust have gone

You will stay where you belong

In a cocoon hidden away

Wrapped contentedly and there you will stay

With thoughts and dreams yet fulfilled

Returning to reality

Life is cruel to those who love

Who have lost and cannot gain true love

Let us seek the reasons for

The hurt and loss you experience more

The years have gone and left their toll

But there will be more to seek the truth

We love and bear all kinds of strength

To continue forward on this path

We seek solace in our own domain

Caring and sharing, no one’s to blame

But our thoughts can be trained to

To begin once again

To fulfil our dreams when we least expect

Believe and achieve, we will know best

To begin again on this journey of life

Experience the wonders of sacrifice

How crazy love can be. One person may love someone and the other person may not. They may have truly loved each other at one time now their hearts have grown apart. Those who find love that lasts are proof love is worth it. Loved your poem so true and powerful.

Wow thank you SO VERY MUCH Dreamseeker. I get the feeling you completely understand. No indeed we cannot make some one like us, let alone love us. It is such a special chemistry when two people become one! Thank you once again Dreamseeker.

This is a good poem for those who have suffered from lost dreams and a broken heart. In the moment it may seem unbearable, but in the end it is up to the one who's living it, to learn to let go and realize maybe, despite all the pain and sorrow, there is a better tomorrow. : ) We cannot make someone like us, let alone love us. But we can learn from the lesson and realize, maybe there is someone out there who is much better for us. Loved this spin on your poetry. Great job, helping out a friend.

Vinaya Ghimire, do we really welcome pain when we are in love? I don't really agree, my friend suffered pain and I don't think she enjoyed it. Thank you for visiting this poem and making a comment, it was very much appreciated.

The other face of love is pain, I don't say hate, because when we are in love we welcome pain.

Life may appear to be harsh, but if you understand the purpose of life then it is not harsh. If the purpose of life is to die, then there is something terribly wrong. But life teaches you with only one motivation-- so you can feel perfect peace and endless love.

Now it appears to be simple. When you fall in love, it is great. When you lose someone then it is terrible. So birth is celebrated and death is mourned. But the ultimate cause of death is birth. The ultimate cause of sadness of losing someone comes from loving someone. If you can follow the sadnesss back to where it comes from, you see that it comes from the same place that the love comes from.

And that source where all these emotions come from, is more wonderful than anything that you can feel. Socrates lived hundreds of years before Jesus. He said "Know thyself!" What is this self that he is talking about? He taught that man is really an immortal soul and this is the most important thing in life. The soul is not born and does not die. It just changes.

Dear Acaetnna, I thought I'd take the liberty of leaving the 100th comment on this hub, as I suspect I also was the first to comment. You are indeed a compassionate and caring individual. If one has experienced a rough patch, what better way to make lemonade out of lemons than by helping others? Suddenly, what once felt like weakness becomes strength. In this way, the torch of human knowledge passes from person to person. Not only can you write, you also have a good heart and sharp mind. Thank you, W.E.

Thank you Rosie, I am a firm believer in everything happening for a reason. When we lose our love it feels like the end of the world, but often after the hurt and pain we find the courage to move on. I firmly believe that there is a special love out there for each and every one of us. The challenge some people have is that they find someone already in a relationship and wish to destroy it in order to make themselves find happiness. In my opinion that is unforgivable. Thank you so much for your comment.

Love is never an easy subject. It has been written about since the beginning of time. You have captured in such a sweet way what we have all experienced. Isn't it odd how that love equals pain so often in our lives, yet we continue to seek it above all else? Relationships are a mystery for sure. I look forward to more of your poems.

I know how hard it was when my mom lost her true love. She found the strength to move on and eventually found another love, but the beginning was hard and painful for her. I know everyone tells you to move on and the reality is that life moves you on anyway, but I don't think the pain ever really goes away. You just wait for time to dull it until it's gone.

I am sorry that your friend has to experience such loss though. She is incredibly lucky to have someone who has had a similar experience and believes she has the strength to carry on. Beautiful poem, by the way. Kept me thinking the whole time. Can't wait to read more of your stuff!

Losing someone we love is always heart-breaking at anytime but to lose love at any special time in the year like the beginning of a new year is an even greater burden to bear and requires more effort to keep our heads above water. One of the sad life events is to lose love but we must muster the strength to carry on and know that things happen for a reason. Only in hindsight will we know and until that time becomes apparent we must do our best to remain strong. Easier said than done but try we must and with the help of supportive friends and family we can regain the strength to live our lives fully again.

Thank you so much Erin, I always appreciate your comments so much.Your Year of the Butterfly hub is awesome and indeed I feel that it has done something rather miraculous so that we may write with even better attention to content and execution.

Hello Gachapoz, thank you so much for reading this and of course for your comment. You are correct, I can only write from my heart and express my true feelings.

What a wonderful message you are sending to your friend acaetnna. I hope her pain is diminishing. I guess the pain never really goes away but it does lessen as we move on in life. Well done, beautiful work.
