I Have Been Doing It Wrong

Updated on October 22, 2014

For As Long As I Can Remember

I always tried to do things right

Sometimes my days went well

Other times they were a real shame

Where I took all the blame

I would convince myself I could do better

Then I would try the best I know and go one my merry way

Once again this time it could be one month down the road

I have stopped to smell the flowers and saw some beautiful roses

Not long before I got pricked by a thorn hidden under brush

Lesson learned

Now I decided to walk a dirt road

One I have passed by many times

Walking along I saw a tree

Standing tall reaching it's branches out into the world

Then I was sadden by the thought

This poor tree can never leave this spot

Where I can roam all over the world

But don;t

I am happy to go to work every day

Getting paid from my career job

The job I like but I can't see myself doing it for ever

Just long enough to cover expenses

Then I will prove once and for all

There is more than one way to enjoy life

As long as I put all I have into it

This gives me a little more time to think

Gypsy Rose Lee If we keep dreaming maybe it will happen. In the beginning only an hour then it might extend farther to one day. You never know unless we try. Life and it's choices our endless. Thank you for sharing and dreaming big.

Now that would be a perfect life being able to live on dreams sigh.... Doing what fulfills our souls and not having to worry about anything else.

Harishprasad I am very thankful for all I have. It still doesn't stop me from dreaming for more. I use to beat myself up and think it is greed and I should never think that way. It is because I was selfish and self centered even though many people do it all the time. Somewhere in my past I have conditioned myself to this belief. Now I begin to feel it's o.k. to want bigger and better. If you have any thoughts I would also appreciate your views ?Thank you for reading and sharing your comments. Have a wonderful day.

Dream on, I enjoyed reading these fine verses. What you said about tree & yourself is so heartfelt &sincere that I felt as if it was my own story. Sometimes, similar thoughts arise in me also. I love your style of pouring out thoughts. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem.

DDE I thought it was smart to have a job that you could rely on work and a constant paycheck even if it wasn't the greatest. Thinking outside the box staying with the same job makes it easy to get complacent and it kills any creativity. Most of my coworkers are either going to school or inbetween jobs. There are only a few who made it their career. They are either trying to make ends meet. Providing for their family or have had a rough past that have brought them here. I kind of fell in a job that kept me busy and gave me an opportunity where my skills and talents were limited. Writing gives me a fresh start where I depend on all my memories and my feelings to inspire and create. Working on my next story something new and something great.Thank you for your constant visits and comments that keep me writing and thinking.

Sometimes a change of career can boost your income and improve your lifestyle.
