I PROFESSED MY LOVE
I professed my love to my lover~
He professed it back to me~
He whispered it so gently ~
Yet very furtively.
I declared my love to the world~
My lover said he’d wait~
He does not want the world to know~
The love he declared today.
I sent my lover a Valentine to express my devotion~
The mail man came and went~
And the day grew dark and damp~
Yet no Valentine came for me as the day went by spent.
I claimed my faith in my lover~
He claimed his faith in me~
Yet I am perplexed sometimes~
For you to know the truth if you please?
I have believed in my lover~
I have given him much~
The most precious of all~
Was that I gave him my heart.
Now still today I profess my love to him~
And he secretly professes it back ~
He still does not want to tell the world~
Which I feel is a non-committed act.
I struggle more now to stay steadfast in love with him~
Yet I most certainly still stay loyal~
But I must admit my doubts do swerve~
As my insecurities in our relationship do boil.
The time grows near~
That he should prove his love~
Maybe shout it to the world! ~
If he hesitates any longer all might be stubbed and burled.
My patience is waning~
I can’t help but worry~
I used emotion to profess my love ~
Now it is up to a conscious jury.
I professed my love to my lover~
He professed it back to me~
He whispered it so gently ~
Yet very furtively.
