I Picked Carnations for You
I picked carnations for you~
To show my love~
When your chair is vacant~
They fill the space with memories~
To make me feel complete and~
Not latent when life is tuff.
I picked carnations for you~
For they last a long time~
When the room is empty~
They fill the air with a fragrance~
That reminds me of our cherished times.
I picked carnations for you~
For they endure much~
With strong petals~
They help me to be stalwart~
To go on without you not lying dormant.
I picked carnations for you~
As they can become colors of rainbows~
With their help I can tolerate with resilience~
Life’s many poisoned arrows.
I picked carnations for you~
Back than to keep you well~
Alas they are still in the vase~
As you are gone~
Yet still you are utmost on my mind~
I have wrapped now the bouquet in lace~
To keep like you~
Them for all time.
I picked carnations for you~
To remind me of your presence~
I picked them with tears in my eyes~
For the consoling robust of these flowers~
Give my very being an on going power~
To ease the pain of missing you~
Other wise in life I would be devoured.
I pick carnations for you~
To show my undying love~
I pick carnations everyday for you~
To prove in my mind~
You are still there~
And~
We are still one.
