Now, where was I?

Retired counselor, 341 short stories published by FSU. I have 4 sons, love sharing photography, writing, love travel, sunshine, sea & Grace.

Ever find yourself in the middle of a conversation, about to say something profound and then blank out?...You search your memory banks and nothing; the word is gone and so is the message...

Have you ever lost focus and concentration; wander into a room and wonder why you're there? If so, welcome to my world. The following is a 'tongue-in-cheek' account of one of those days for me:

Although I am very busy, I have completed nothing all day. For example, I may go into a room and then have no idea what I intended to do there. So, blank and bewildered, I do something else. I may decide to clean the bathrooms. I start cleaning and then realize the bleach is in the cupboard under the kitchen sink...

In the kitchen, I realize the floor could do with a clean, but first I put the kettle on for a cup of tea. While I'm waiting for the kettle to boil, I dust the floor, then go into the garage to get the mop...

In the garage, I see a pile of clothes my son left out to wash. After separating the clothes I start a wash (which reminds me to check the hub poll on my latest Hub). Once on my computer I do some work on a writing project, update my Home Exchange page and take a look at my son's Facebook page...(the tea, clothes wash, mop, bleach, bathroom forgotten).

A comment in Myspace messages reminds me I need to secure a La Quinta Hotel room (I have a voucher for a free night, I know I put it somewhere) to attend my son's UCF orientation in Orlando, but can't complete this until I speak with him first (I remind myself to speak with him later)...

Now where was I?

I realize I haven't eaten, so off to the kitchen to find out what's available. The fridge tells me it's time for a shop, so I seek out a pen to write a list... In the office, (pen and list forgotten), I jump online and check my emails. Still hungry, I then go back to the fridge and notice it could do with a wipe down. ..(may as well do it now, in case I forget) ...but first I need to get the sponge from under the kitchen sink...

On my way to get the sponge, I realize I haven't picked up the mail. Going through the yard to retrieve the mail, I notice some weeds...so go to the garage to get a pair of gloves and weed spray... but, the mail is beckoning and always absorbing, especially when there's an invoice for an over-charge from Verizon which needs immediate attention, and another irate phone discussion with a Verizon rep. (Grrrrr)!

Now where was I...?

I decide to take a walk to cool down, but can't find my walking shoes... (and a cup of tea would be nice)...Time has gone by and I have forgotten the bathroom I was going to clean, the bleach, the mop for the kitchen floor, the sponge to clean the fridge, the discussion I was going to have with my son, the unwashed clothes in the washing machine, (a surprise for next wash day)...the gloves and weed spray, the pen for my shopping list and my shoes to take a relaxing walk... (Luckily my kettle clicks off by itself).

By the end of the day, hungry and exhausted, nothing has been completed. But I've been SO BUSY! Can anyone relate?

So my fellow hubbers, if you find some mid-sentence nonsense in any of my comments to you, please forgive me, I will have forgotten my point. Its getting late now, and I know I had something pressing to do all day....Oh , forgot to get dressed! ...(thank God I work from home)...
