Just in case...

Updated on May 3, 2014

“Sweet Dreams”

Just in case…

I heard what you said when you did not realize I was listening

funny how you hugged me in front of the others

as if I was someone you held in high regard…

In case…

you are wondering

I really do not care any longer

just wish I would forget

No need to worry…

I will never tell

It was long ago

An attempt at fitting in

Have wondered…

from time to time

if the same ever happened to you

and how you handled it

Filed away in my cabinet…

thoughts and images

refuse any effort

I make to compartmentalize

I read your files…

you have them facebooked

so everyone can see

your likes

Your dislikes…

always makes me wonder

why you would have ever

friended me

Still I hear what you say when you do not realize I am listening…

for as hard as I try

I can’t erase the word

and its acronymic power

Perhaps…

You never gave it a second thought

felt vindicated

pulled yourself up by your bootstraps

An act…

so quick

mean-spirited

your modus operandi

After all this time…

I am still listening

even tried standing out in a storm

hoping the shock would blow these thoughts away

And yet…

there you are

still floating through my re-membranes

powerfully sinewy

Might as well have been yesterday…

when I heard what I heard

read what I read

became a prisoner

Just in case…

I heard what you said when you did not realize I was listening

Still…

I hear what you say when you do not realize I am listening

Hoping…

when you think of me

      Kevin,

Thank you for being so gracious. The other I must take day by day, and sometimes, minute by minute...I think that is why when it is a good day or minute, it feels so wonderful.

      Many Blessings,

      Kim

      John, Kevin and Jo,

I know my response is overdue, and I hope it is okay that it is better late than never. I am finding that I have not responded to comments on several hubs. I have had a long year undergoing many life changes which has at times been paralyzing. Right now, I am feeling so blessed and you, my fellow hubbers are the reasons why.

      Thank You.

      Kim

Kim, this is beautiful, something that resonates with so many of us. Memories I though I'd buried so deep, never to visit again pops up at the oddest time, and can still pack a powerful punch. Awesome poetry as always.

      My very best to you.

Could you read it again, I was not listening? (grin) I wondered when I read this whether it was from someone who was awake or dreaming. It is beautiful and awesome.

I had to revisit this Kim. I miss your hubs, and forgot I had already been here. Just going through to find ones I haven't read. Have a great day.

TLW, GRL, Audrey, Teaches12345, Suzette, Jamie,

Many thanks to all of your wonderful comments and continued support. Every time I think I am back in the hub swing, life takes over taking me away. Much Love to all of you. Hoping things are going to slow down soon so I can attempt yet again to get back in the groove. Even when I am not around, I am thinking of all you-my special hubpage friends and look forward to catching up all of the hubs you have written that I have not had a chance to read.

Blessings to the best people in the world,

      Kim

Wow, Kim! Powerful poem. I so enjoyed reading this. Words and actions can be so hurtful and harmful in relationships. Sometimes, we even wonder if we truly know the person at all. Thanks for sharing your beautiful words. Voted up+

So sorry you are dealing with such an unwanted presence. It seems som people do not realize when their words and actions are harmful to others. Prayers and hugs.

      Dearest Faith,

Luckily, I do hear His angels and often they are just like you, sending kindness and words of empowerment.

Many Blessings and Love to you as well,

      Kim

      Dear Kim,

It seems those words that hurt do seem to stick in there, even when there are other beautiful words in there too. I pray that the Lord and His angels sing His sweet praises over you this night and every night, reminding you of just how beautiful and wonderful you truly are in this life.

Blessings and love for His peace

      Bill,

My problem is that I can't seem to get the renter to leave.

      Sally,

I have been wishing for that on/off switch for a really long time.

      John,

Thank you for the vote and kind comments.

      Wishing all a wonderful weekend,

      Kim

Kim, there are some things tht etch themselves in our brains. Even when we think we have been successful at erasing the memory they seem to find a way to resurface. Some people also seem to have two sides and their actions and words behind our backs betray what they say when they know we are listening. Well written, voted up.

Oh sometimes it would be good to have an on and an off switch in the brain and the courage to know when to use it.

Lovely piece of writing Kim - thanks for sharing.

Hope you have a wonderful week-end.

Really very beautiful, Kim, and something I think many of us can associate with. I wonder how many times I have rented out space in my brain to someone who didn't deserve it? :) Have a great weekend.
