Love's Doubtful Questions

Updated on September 30, 2014

By: Wayne Brown

What makes you think you’re right this time?

Why do you think you know?

You just might be a sucker for some old line

You might be catching on too slow

What makes you think you can do all that?

Why do you think you can?

You might just be one more fooled cat

Or an ostrich with its head in the sand

What causes you to act all angry and uptight?

Why do you have to shout?

You just might come in here some night

Only to have your ass thrown back out

What is on your mind when you say nothing at all?

Why do you clam up your verbiage?

You need to speak out and let the words fall

If you really have the courage

What sticks in your throat when loves comes around?

Why can’t you speak out the word?

You just cannot seem to speak that love sound

The words that long to be heard

What say you of true love arriving on the wind?

Why do you run from its touch?

Maybe the right time has found you again

Maybe someone could care that much

What will you do when your trust returns?

In which place will it keep?

Maybe you’ll still run from the burns

Maybe you’re still cut way too deep

Where does your heart hide the painful past?

Is it there on your sleeve?

Do you fear that nothing  will ever last?

Is all that you can do is leave?

@sr1...Ken, he's probably waiting there to rob me! Did you get over to Charlie's and see the poem he wrote about me with that cowgirl midget...called "Two Pomes"? Check it. Thanks for the kind words. The inspiration for this came from my ten years in the bars searching for my broken trust! WB

A revealing poem of love. I enjoyed it Wayne, you have the Poet's touch. I think you have found a new calling, writing is definitely your forte. You have a style of your own and I see that with every new hub you post. Thanks for the share, keep on hubbing my friend, you are on the steps of success. A publisher is waiting around the corner:0)

Very good poem. It is such an intense poem with a lot of depth. I'm no expert but it spoke to me.

Valerie...ya made me laugh out loud with that part about your diary! Very glad you liked this. This was one of those that just started from that first line. When I wrote down that line, I had no idea where it was going or what was just took shape. So glad you liked! WB

Good gawd, you've been reading my diary, but at this point I'm putting it on hubpages, anyhow. Truth is its only on hubpages, not in my daily life where people don't have a clue. Thanks for a good write, this is intense, and strong. Not what I expected from your writing on Charlie's site. Of course on his site, anything goes, and I've been known to say things I wouldn't ordinarilly say as well. Anyway, this is some deep shit, to put it crudely. Am voting you up. (:v

@Bpop...I want you to go for it Poppy. I promise you that I had not written poetry to any extend except maybe writing some limerick for a laugh some years back. I had the same inspiration and decided to give it a try. It is great when I can shift genre. It keeps me involved and I don't burn out so much in one area. It gives me time to heal a bit. You have a quick and sharp mind and it will produce some great poems I am sure. I will be waiting! WB
