Life Song. A Loving Dedication to Manatita

Student of life, lifelong learner, mother, writer, artist, poet, dancer, musician, and martial artist ... passionate about all of these.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a tidal wave.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a tidal wave, churning, crashing down

Bringing a wave of temptation thrashing into my need for euphoria,

Up and up the wall of water rises high, blotting out the sun

Erasing the shore of my sometimes distant heart

The crest wipes me away, and I find myself riding, breaking away, free

I am somewhere between the sea and land

Somewhere between what I imagine the real you to be like

And the real you.

I am on the shoreline of your arms which remind me that

Life does not stop, that living must go on.

Even with all the thrashing you still give love, even though you are sometimes harsh.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a hurricane.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a hurricane,

Throwing a tantrum, but I learn to respect your path and power.

My connection formed with you dared you to intrude.

Sometimes you fall softly,

Sometimes you’re steady and firm

I’m so weak with thoughts….mine or yours?

Your life song rings across the ocean like a raging fire.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a raging fire ready to cleanse, ready to burn away the dross of my soul, so that the spirit may fly free.

So that my spirit may fly free of awful memories.

So that my spirit may dance and sing above the burning embers of yesterday.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a sinkhole.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a sinkhole.

You tiptoe around the rim of the sinkhole that has been created in my heart

What music lingers there?

What thoughts that have not been expressed will finally be revealed?

Will I continue to lie just beneath the surface watching my trust collapse?

Will I let it swallow me up . . .my hope, my dreams?

Or will it be a message to help me escape this sickness

To help me escape from all that is dark and tainted.

And move toward what is pure and clean.

Will this create a new shift of magnetic poles?

Your life song rings across the ocean like a manta ray.

Your life song rings across the ocean like a manta ray, the albatross of the sea

Gliding elegantly through the water

Ethereal

Charismatic

Elevating my senses

Calming my soul

I am now part of the dance of the gentle giant that is the manta ray.

Manatita's response

"My life-song dreams and envisions ... across the shimmering waves made translucent by the kisses of the moon;

it streams towards the satin-tinted hue of your silhouette.

Upon your snow-white Heart it glimmers, carrying the voice of a birthright awakening in the seeds of your longing, like the eagle, to be free.

The Boatman plays with the lyrics, as it dances in the sweet cauldron of the Soul."

-Manatita

Thanks for visiting and commenting, Audrey. I received a message from Manatita, and all of a sudden these images started coming to me, and I had to write them down. The poem is the result.

Shanmarie, he is certainly deserving of a dedication, and I am glad that this poem was accepted in the manner of love intended.

This is beautiful, Gina. He certainly deserves a dedication of his own since he so willingly dedicates so much of his work to others. You've done it well and with love and gratitude. Also, I still enjoy your artwork. :)

These two lines of your poem speak to me: "Even with all the thrashing you still give love, even though you are sometimes harsh."

      ...and

"Your life song rings across the ocean like a raging fire ready to cleanse, ready to burn away the dross of my soul, so that the spirit may fly free."

You use your gift well. Love Manatita;s response.

When I read poems like this, I know it comes from a place deep, where the spirit resides. This is beautiful and very apropos to the person to whom it is dedicated.

Thank you, Manatita, for your sweet words, and beautiful response to my verses. I have grown to truly admire you in the time we have connected.

The flower that came to mind, especially as I read your response, was the lotus flower, as it pushes through dark, murky waters, reaching for he sunlight above, opening its silky petals, pure, clean and seemingly untouched by the path that it had to take to get there.
