Mother Robin
Mother Robin in her nest~
Often adjust herself to~
Warm her eggs best.
Mother Robin’s nest~
Rest securely in the fir tree~
She thinks her bed is hidden from sight~
But I can see it clearly to my delight!
I know from memory what~
A Robin’s egg looks like~
As a small tot~
I found a Robin’s egg unbroken on~
The ground~
I took it for show and tell~
Proud of my find~
The other children too whooped and~
Hollered to see the egg with joy in kind!
When Mother Robins nest was built~
I can not say~
Yet~
I am sure Father Robin and~
Her worked on it~
For many a days till done I can bet.
Oh! Mother Robin you are so diligent~
So devoted to your unborn batch~
I can not wait as I am~
Sure you also~
For those little Robin babies to hatch!
