Battling Multiple Sclerosis with Love, Faith and Gratitude
Many years ago, my bestfriend from college invited me to participate on her team in an annual Run/Walkathon for Multiple Sclerosis Research that she supported. I gladly accepted and was inspired to write the following poem and affirmative acronym as an encouragement to any and everyone battling this affliction. Remember that your afflictions do not define you. You were divinely created with purpose and promise, and you are dearly loved and supported by many.
Be well in spirit and mind, and open to loving the whole of you in faith and gratitude by the grace and strength of God, in Jesus name, amen.
MS Partners & Purpose
You're not alone in your battle with Multiple Sclerosis;
Many people care and are actively involved.
They donate and walk, raising money for MS Research,
So that the problem of a cure can one day be solved.
Although it’s a physical and emotional obstacle in your journey,
A challenge requiring you to strive harder than the rest.
Never forget that you are a wonderful, divine creation
With a responsibility to be your beautiful and unique best.
Seek out your purpose, enlarge your boundaries, and be thankful;
Exercise your faith and expect blessings from the Lord.
Be encouraged by the messages from your supporters;
Be strengthened as our spirits join in one accord.
If you continue to fight the attack on your central nervous system,
Remembering never to give up or to give in.
if you consistently affirm yourself and receive the love around you,
Then personal victories you will always daily win.
