My Kind and Wise Internal Mentor

Updated on January 29, 2010

Ode to Self

Extracted from a fraying napkin saved in the folds of an old diary, really more of an exercise log .....what a find! This brought back some nostalgic memories when I resolved to shed some of those unwanted pounds.

Few years later, a few pounds lighter from loosing more of my constraining inhibitions and yes a bit of the baby fat too, I chuckle!

Internal Mentor

My kind and wise Internal Mentor

Where be thee, what do you wait for?

Support me drive the intertia away

For inner peace and good health please make way

Hear me out and do not judge

You stand by me and do not budge

There are many things to confess to you

I need your balanced point of view

And most of all I need your voice

When I have to make that difficult choice

I promise I will give you time to speak

Even in those moments that are weak

Lasting changes make I must

In your able hands I place my trust

My skeptical days have come to an end

I am now ready to make you my friend

So, where be thee what do you wait for?

My kind and wise Internal Mentor

Hi simply untangled, that's a great name by the way. Your poem is well written with some notions of how difficult this dieting challenge is. Cheers mate from sunny Oz

This is a real little gem from your past that you came across! It's great that you kept this and not the pounds! ;-)

We all have that inner voice, some of us seek its advice and heed that advice, some of us don't. Our own "second opinion", ignored at our own peril.

I hope that you'll keep that frayed napkin safe "in purpality" (I still love that word! :)
