Nature--A Haiku

Updated on January 9, 2012

The river rises,

It splashes the wave on shore

Birds squawk overhead.

A Clown fish bit me,

In the depths of the river

So, I swam away.

I went to the hot,

Amazon forest in June,

And saw a macaw.

I saw the heavy,

Anaconda yesterday,

It was humongous.

I see the downpour,

Of water from the blue sky

It makes me rush to a cave.

The sky is irate

I see a bright light,

Flashing down on a sapling.

I see magic strike

The plantlet turns into tree,

It blooms into an allurement.

Time halts for a flash,

Birds twitter from their refuge,

Mammals stare in awe.

Nature is brilliant,

Nature is magnificent,

No one can swap with.

Ruchira, Haiku is one genre I am learning. Somebody told me it should have these many syllables and so on. Yours is good as it tells so much in so few of so many.

      Hi RHW,

Thanks for your kind words. This was my first attempt at Haiku and am glad to get a wide applaud by noted hubbers.

Wow, you have 8 birds. You should write something about them as a hub. My kid is in awe of having a pet and he loves a macaw, thus it came in my Haiku.

These birds are super-smart and it's nice to get their responses...lol

      Hi Rick,

Yup, I was inspired by my various hubber friends as well and took a dive into this kinda poetry. It is fun to play with words and keep track of syllables. Infact, my kid enjoyed creating the words along with me, it's so simple :)

Good luck in your venture, am sure you will enjoy it.

Thank you for the read and comment. Will swing by your profile to check out your hubs.

Ruchira - this is fantastic! Loved the photo and the imagery in so few words. I think that is what I like best about Haiku.

I love birds in general and have 8 of them:) lol I love Macaws but I have an African Grey and a Quaker parrot...sometimes when i am reading hubs if I laugh they mock me...it's as if you have an audience here! lol
