More Fun with the English Language

No Means Know

I have come to know

the word no

in all of its glorious contexts.

I know that no means no

but sometimes no

doesn’t mean no at all.

This I know.

I Know this.

I have come to know

that when you say no

I don’t know if It’s really a no

that actually means yes

and maybe you’re saying no

so I won’t know

that you mean yes.

So this,

I have come to know:

That no means no

Except for those times when no

Means yes.

But when it comes to the difference,

I just don’t know.

Lyricwriter, this was actually born out of an exercise in a poetry book I read that encouraged you to write a poem using a word and taking it out of context. I didn't exactly do it here, but, it's the idea. I'll be reviewing the book soon!

Votes up PDX. It makes you wonder how many times you have heard or been told no in your life. As for me, much more then I have heard yes, although I can't say for sure if that is a bad thing or not. Cool poem.
