What is a Limerick?
What is a limerick?
I had to Google this, to make sure if I even knew what a limerick was exactly, as this is my first attempt.
I thought of it after Mhatter (the king of limericks) left a comment about mirrors and beautiful reflective light in the home. You know I love you Mhatter, as a Sister in Christ.
A limerick is a five-line poem, with a funny punch, humorous twist, and 13-beat rhythm.
First, one must notice both the rhyme and rhythm patterns, i.e.,
da DUM da da DUM da da DUM (3 DUMS) (A)
da DUM da da DUM da da DUM (3 DUMS) (A)
da DUM da da DUM (2 DUMS) (B)
da DUM da da DUM (2 DUMS) (B)
da DUM da da DUM da da DUM (3 DUMS) (A)
When you write a limerick, make sure that it has the same AABBA rhyme pattern, and make sure it has the same 3 DUMS, 3 DUMS, 2 DUMS, 2 DUMS, 3 DUMS rhythm patterns too.
I am already so confused - DUM DUM! Ha. I know I do not have the rhythm pattern down.
My Very First Attempt
Well, here it goes, and it may not only be my first limerick, but my last one as well!
You, a self-confessed egotist,
In your comment you did enlist.
No hat on your dome
Does more for your home
Than mirrors alone, I insist!
I am sorry. Forgive me Mhatter!
