Out of Focus ~~ Poetry and Poets
By the celestial calendar it is summer,
however, for me
summer has not fully come.
The air is heavy and pregnant….
and the sun filters in soft oblique rays
through the pale green leaves,
all but transparent, that fresh and new.
Still…
everything is quite hazy
just enough out of focus
to stir up somnolent longings,
for endless cool nights
for quiet communion with those most loved.
It is this unfulfilled longing,
which though the season has indeed turned,
keeps me from coming into summer.
