Imagery in Poetry: Two Poems from the Heart

Updated on July 20, 2013

Heart Song

Ebony wings, sleek and shiny, graze the

Silver skyline in graceful, slow motion,

Cutting through my gaze at the rose-

Ruby Red, and opening ever so perfectly,

Revealing its exquisite beauty.

This is the opening of the heart.

A winged creature brushing softly by,

And perfumed petals lingering in the air

Like a lover’s kiss.

Oh, Joy, you are the delight of this happy child.

My heart bursts with the flavor of you.

And you cannot help but splash Yellow

In all directions, like the explosion

Of the sun on a crisp, clear morning.

How righteous it is then,

To seize the blanket of stars from the Universe

And wrap myself up in all of its glory.

Enfolded in endless possibilities,

My heart sings!

The Mystery of the Heart

Source

Hide and Seek

In this game of Hide and Seek,

Where my heart yearns to be found,

I will let you find me.

No matter that I have immersed myself

Thoroughly in the play of make believe,

Lost among the images I have erected.

No matter that, in this separation,

I have confused myself with beliefs

Which no longer speak of who I am,

A chasm of doubt and mistrust.

You will find me in the quiet whispers

Between sleep and wakefulness,

And leap from the stars of the Infinite Darkness.

Sparkling beacons beckoning me home.

In this chaos we call our reality,

You will show your face in the faces of strangers

And touch my heart ever so lightly.

And, I will let you…

…find me.

Hi Carol3san, Thank you for reading and leaving your feedback-appreciate it.

Hi Angelme566-Yes, it is, isn't it? :) It is a game we play with ourselves, hiding from our own True Self...how wonderful for us when we 'discover' the gem within. Thank you for reading.

Hi Jon-thank you for reading and commenting. These are love poems of a particular sort-that of the infinite and unconditional love that comes from the Soul and the recognition of that.

I appreciate you taking a moment to read and enjoy. Thanks!

Stessily, while it is true that the session left it's mark on 'this' person as I am manifested in this body, I am honored that you feel the expansion within your own heart. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Denise, That one session was clearly a profound experience, an experience toward which you have been moving all of your life.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I feel such an expansion in my heart every time I read your writings, especially your poetry.

      Kind regards, Stessily

Stessily-There was a quiet peace in writing these two poems. Thank you for reading and commenting. They came to me from one session with my spiritual teacher which opened my heart out to the Universe.

Denise, These are two poems which sparkle with discovery.

I especially love these two lines in "Heart Song":

"To seize the blanket of stars from the Universe

And wrap myself up in all of its glory."

"Hide and Seek" is mesmerizing! God finds us, despite the images we have erected, and speaks "in the quiet whispers Between sleep and wakefulness". The closing lines are perfect: "And, I will let you……find me."

These poems from the heart are exceptional.

      Kind regards, Stessily

Simply beautiful. The first was a delight for all the senses and both were tributes to the beauty of allowing one's heart to fully open.
