Prose - Because We Always Do

Updated on February 25, 2011

As the birds flee
And inanimates take wing
The stars are blown
All around the sky
Dragging along
Our hopes
And our dreams
In the dance
Of uncertainty
That yesterday
Seemed so sure
The constellations
Reach for their mate
To regain themselves
And their focus
As the birds dive
Avoiding chance
While we
Remain standing
In order that we may see
Our fate
And face the monster
As men and women
Who reject failure
And fear
Knowing our legacy
Of setback
And sorrow
Has been overcome
By courage
And strength
As the birds return
To their proper place
And the stars
Align once more
Our hopes and dreams
Have jettisoned themselves
From a hopeless destiny
Instead substituting
Determination
No matter the answer
Or the pain
Because we always do

Hey Vy - Thank you for being so kind as alays!

@Jan - yeah it's a puzzle... I am going to try and not let my feeble male pride and ego become too attached to that number. It is a roller coaster ride that's for sure. Thanks for the nice comment about this hub....

"@Nan - thank you... I've given up on the Hubscore.... I don't get it (and not because I think I deserve higher; well maybe I do... I have a pretty big ego).... I've seen it creep up when Idon't post for a couple of days then I see it drop after I post a hub and get lot's of comments. I think somehow it's tied to commercial viability (clicks on Adsense) because I definitely am a starving artist!"

First to say, beautiful poetry, just beautiful!

Second, I completely agree with your comment about scores. I had the exact same experience this past week where I did nothing and it rose and as soon as I started commenting, etc. it dropped. There is something more than we know at play here.

Keep writing your beautiful poetry so I can read more!

@LiesaNunn - thank you for the nice comment.

      @Eiddwen - Thank you too!

@Ashantina - thank you... as for how quickly they happen it just seems that inspiration is happening all the time... last night I stepped outside and it was very wind... As I looked up at the stars I noticed that Orion was further to the left than I had noticed from the night before (obviously timing differences) and the thought of the stars being blown about was came to mind...

@Minnetonka - thanks for all the support! It can mean several things... I'm kind of scatterbrained at times and segue within a segue... hopefully it's coherent.

@Genna - Thank you again and I truly appreciate the votes...

Beauty and written with a lot of expression. I am looking to see you score go up, I can't see the reason for it being in the 84's. Your quality is there and it shows.
