A Request to an Impatient Friend: Poem
The speaker isn't ready for a serious relationship, but her "friend" is trying to make her love him. She now realizes he is inconsiderate of her feelings, and is fed up with him. Thus, she's giving him some advice to ponder over.
Dude I’m not ready, I’m not ready,
To be in a committed relationship,
But you’re rushing to go steady,
Slow down! Let me give you a tip.
Never force yourself onto a lady,
Because you appear thirsty for love,
And people will judge you as being hasty,
What you need is guidance, pray to the One above.
To help you calm down, and focus on yourself,
Take time to enjoy life, and have fun,
Decide what you want, and exclude everyone else,
Relax and appreciate being a person of one.
So stop forcing me to say “I love you”,
When deep down I know it’s not true.
