Secret Admirer Part 2
Secret Admirer Part 2
Yvonne and Robin had been best friends since the 2nd grade. They shared many common interests but not on the subject of men. With men Yvonne and Robin were attracted to polar opposites. Yvonne preferred tall brothers, tree hugging brothers or politically correct brothers with a cause. She wanted someone in which she could sit down and debate the bible with or who would make an excellent chess opponent. Yvonne felt that if he couldn’t challenge her intellectually he couldn’t please her in the bedroom. Robin on the other hand seemed to seek out broke down brothers, brothers that seemed to want to live on the fat of the land, and that land being her house. Brothers going through something like baby’s mama drama, or an alcoholic or the recently unemployed. In her mind she felt a Christian duty to fix men, broken men.
“It was just flowers, Yvonne.” Robin stated as she sits her empty wine glass on Yvonne’s coffee table, kicks off her shoes and stretches out with the remote control.
Yvonne signs and reaches for the half empty ‘Acres of Land’ wine bottle. “Yeah, but it’s creepy to get anonymous gifts. You do know this is the 2nd mysterious gift? Did I tell you about the box?
“Oh the earrings?” Robin chimes in.
“No, it wasn’t earrings. It was a Cameo Pin. I walked in to find the box on my desk.”
“Yeah, you told me about that one.”
“And you still think I’m overreacting! Suppose this guy wants to do something horrible to me?” Yvonne’s tone softens.
Robin can see her friend is clearly worried about getting a few nice mysterious gifts. Although she couldn’t see what the big deal was. She knew the gifts had to have come from some horny married business man Yvonne worked with. Yvonne is an attractive 42 year old woman with a nice frame. He, whoever he is just wants to screw Yvonne and doesn't quite know how to approach her. “I wouldn’t worry too much about it, this little game he’s playing will eventually get too expensive and he’ll be forced to expose himself.”
“Expose himself?” Yvonne repeated while half chocking on her wine. Both women laughed.
“I think it’s someone that really knows you. Someone that knows these sorts of mind games turn you on.”
“Turned on?” Yvonne repeats. “I’m not turned on.” Yvonne hears herself say not totally convinced that was the truth. It was exciting to think someone was interested in her. That someone took the time to notice that she would like the Cameo Pin or the attempt at poetry that came with the beautiful flowers. Or as Robin put it, the mind game itself.
Robin sits up straight on the couch and reaches for the phone. “What time is it?”
“Why?”
“I have to get up in the morning.”
“You’re lying! You don’t have anywhere to go. You’re just trying to catch up to Terry…”
“Tony, his name is Tony and I’m not trying to catch him.”
“I’m not going to let you drive and you’ve been drinking.”
“I’m not going to drive Tony is coming to pick me up, he has my car.”
Yvonne looks up at the ceiling and sighs, “That figures.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I know you can do better. You just need to broaden your horizons past the damn Plasma Center.”
“It’s not like that with Tony. He’s just in between jobs right now. I’m sure you will like him, Von… He’s one of the intellectuals.”
“Yeah right!”
One hour later Tony pulls up in Yvonne’s driveway and rudely blows the horn to alert Robin that his majesty has arrived.
