Sitting on Spring... Is It Here Yet © Rolly A. Chabot
Welcome
Look who has climbed out the grasp of winter in Canada. Thought it best I say hello and let tyou know I have climbed out of the den in search of Spring and Summer. The other two seasons will likely drive Quigs and I back into hibernation.
I know it has been a long while and if you have forgotten about me well I understand. If you recall me well drop in and say hello and maybe we can catch up on what has been happening in your world. I have been involved with two other writing sites this past winter and found them rewarding.
So please do gather around and let Quigley come and greet you as well as myself... know that you are dearly loved and please grab a few hugs on the way by.
Not here yet
I know I am planning a long way ahead but I know they are starting to stir as they do each year and have for many.
I do see very slight signs of the earth beginning to wake after the long rest and frozen ground syndrome. It is a welcome sight trust me, even though the winter was mild here it was long, getting starting in mid October. This year I stayed close to home and did little travelling other than a few trips to the west coast.
Sail Boat Buffing
Rename
I started working a little of the sailboat with plans this year to rename her after a refit last year. I bought one of those super Duper electric buffers the other day to save on the old arms and shoulders. I chose a 3 stage compound this year and the results look promising as all last years oxidization came off quickly. As well it removed the old name and I will re-register it. It was called "Eagles Wings" and this year I will be calling it "Aurora Mist."
With the little artistic talent I have I will attempt to paint a scene of Northern Lights on the Port and Starboard side as well as the stern. I have all the oak railing and woodwork off and they are all going back to their natural colours. As well I will redo all the interior cabin for those longer on the water stays. As well the trailer will get a complete make over to brighten it up.
Year Older
We Age
Like all of us Quigley is another year older and as you can tell she like her Dad found a few extra pounds. Hard to believe she will be 8 years old already. At the mention of food she is very alert and now follows me outside when ever I am working in the yard. I blame the extra weight on her as she drives me to the favourite eating places. Of course I go fighting and kicking the whole way, the extra pounds for us both will be shed quickly.
It has been a hard year as I have seen several friends and relative pass away. Some friends very close and it has been a reminder to pay attention and stay connected. One day we are here and the next maybe gone. A few passings really hit home this year a few who were much younger than myself, Even though I attempt to stay active the years are adding up. I will be passing into another decade this year. Like my Dad used to always say, when God calls your name... well we have little choice.
In Closing
Should you see the "Aurora Mist" sitting in harbour in your travels know the same invitation as the Fireside has to offer is open. She may be a little cramped should we all gather but like always I will find room.
Blessing as always and also special hugs for each who visit. Know that you are loved and please do say hello... Hugs as always thank you for stopping...
