Spring is the season for renewal in nature, the fresh pops of color in the spring bulbs are always a welcome sight and so too is the newest colors and textures in makeup.

All the top cosmetic companies bring out their own spin on hot new looks that originally sashayed down the catwalk on the models.

Goes With The Job ~

As a Make Up Artist it was always essential knowing what was on trend when it came to my editorial work for a fashion campaign or the up to date client who wanted the latest look.

You never knew when you may have to use them so being informed was the first step.

Personally I like to think of myself as more of a trend setter rather than a follower however it is fun seeing what to expect and adapting to your own looks, so let’s take a look at what is sizzling hot this spring and summer!

Keep it Natural for Spring / Summer

Minimal Makeup is Hot ~

What was great to see during Fashion Week across the fashion capitals was the fresh faced no foundation looks designers sent the models out in.

Clean and clear complexions were IN with the only color coming from pops of bright or neon lips. Definitely a key trend that is great to see.

With this comes the need for proper skin maintenance to make it glow.

Eyeshadow Color ~

Eyes are still a focus for spring and summer and there are different looks that are trending or fashionable this year.

Pops of retro, neon, bright and pastel are all different features with the cosmetic houses.

You thought you would never wear that vivid blue eyeshadow again?? Well, it’s back with a bang as our bright reds, yellows, greens through to washes of color in aquamarines, lilacs, corals and nudes.

Shimmer Eyeshadows are essential for the night-time, party look. Midnight blues, Deep Amethyst and Charcoal grey are popular as our any Metallic colors.

Eyeliners may be worn in any type of color it seems this spring and the royal blues, turquoise and even pinks are out there.

I love eyeliner and the variety available covers a spectrum from applying loose powder eyeliner to pen and liquid eyeliners.

If you find you are prone to the odd mistake in applying eyeliner no need to fret, check out how to quickly remove eyeliner mistakes and you will be sorted out no problem.

Mascara is always in as far as I’m concerned and this season sees the colored mascaras really stand out. Bright Blue, Turquoise, Red, Bright Green are all acceptable to adorn your lashes with and lashings of it!

Extra Long Eyelashes ~

The longer the better in eyelashes is a big trend and with as much volume as possible. In other words false or fake eyelashes will be flying out of the shops.

Topped off with a coat of mascara and you are ready to go. Wear alone or with the party jazzed eyes.

If you find your own eyelashes could do with a natural remedy to condition and improve their length, try beautiful eyelashes and eyebrows with castor oil.

Jeweled Eyes for The WOW Factor

Jewels are a Trend

Bling Those Eyes ~

Jazz up looks even more and apply some jewels around the eye, under the eyebrow or at the edges for a real individual artistic look that is sure to impress.

For a special occasion like Valentine's Day or a night out with girls, jazzed up eyes with jewels can be subtle or not, the choice is yours.

Jeweled Eyes are right on trend so have some fun or pass on as a makeup craft for teens to the kids who will love it.

Bold Brows are Back

Eyebrows are BIG ~

Big bushy eyebrows are not a sign of neglect, according to the fashionable trendsetters.

Oh no, the bushier the better is the trend and if you don’t have them then you simply invent them with powder or pencil.

Now, this trend I have to say will not be for everybody and I for one will not be adopting this particular fashion statement.

But if you do favor this look then you are bang on trend this spring and summer, particularly if you are a 60’s makeup fan as that is back too!

The Swinging’ 60’s Look ~

One of my favorite eras the swinging 60’s was all about eyeliner, mascara and Marilyn Monroe signature red lipstick.

Smokey eyes, defined brows, the 60’s were a time for experimentation with designers such as Mary Quant leading the way in the London limelight.

False eyelashes were the rage too so this trend ties up many of the other key looks in one makeup.

Matte Lipstick ~

Matte lips are the choice over shimmer and colors range from nudes to melon, fuchsia, lilac, corals and reds of every tone.

Wear the bright neon shades alone or if going for strong eyes tone down lips to a more natural shade so focus is on the eyes.

To make sure lips are in tip top condition try a sugar lip scrub which is essential coming into the spring.

Our lips automatically get drier during winter and you can often develop dry chapped lips. The lip scrub will gently remove all the rough dry skin, remove dead skin cell build up and leave the puckers soft and supple.
