Did you know?

Stress and tiredness can cause sleepwalking. In people who are prone to sleepwalking, any kind of sleep disruption can trigger sleepwalking to occur.

Arise past midnight

Stomach churning

Mother nature calling

Wild eyes shut

To the loo I rush

Squat like a duck

In the dark I flush.

In my sleep I talk

And like a zombie I walk

To the ground floor

Down I explore

Kinky hair all messed up

At least I am dressed up.

To the kitchen unabridge

Open the fridge

Grab some cheese

Geez, it’s all freeze.

I pinch and pierce my ears

Blood drips down my neck

Heck, I am dead!

Someone called out

Tapped me in the head

And I heard, “wake up sleepy willow.

you should be sleeping in your bed.”

Troubled brain, dead-beat in twilight zone…what a dream!

Quick Poll

Did you ever sleepwalk?

word55: Salute to you and to all the firemen in the world. Thank you for stopping by. I'm glad you don't sleep walk because as you said, it could be dangerous. :)

      Blessings back at you.

Hi CrisSp, this was a clever poem. I've never sleep walked but I've heard of people that did. That would be too dangerous for me. I like the way you put this together though. I'm used to working around the clock as a fireman. Had to be aware at all times. Be blessed! :-)

I have never "sleep walked", however I am a night shift worker, so sometimes I feel like I might be...! LOL, thanks for the poem!

Jackie Lynnley: Hello and thank you. Sometimes, it feels good to experience it and it's kind of fascinating to hear the story from a family member who have actually witnessed it. My hubby tends to exaggerate though in his comedic way. :)

Cute poem! I have never sleep walked; thanks goodness, I am sure I would fall and get hurt for sure. It would terrify me to know I did. Hope you are growing out of it! lol

I know just how dangerous it can be my friend. ;-) I once almost broke my dad's thumb while sleep walking.

He said that I was acting like my hand was cramping, where I was like, "Owww! Ow ow ow!" Sorry, I don't mean that to be funny, I was just telling the way I was acting. Then when he was trying to see what was wrong, that's when I grabbed his thumb and twisted it.

I'm just glad he was o.k.

I used to sleep walk, but I'm sure that I've stopped doing it after my lower teens, maybe like 14 or 15 I stopped.

I love this poem Cris! Keep up the excellent work!

Most interesting poem on sleep walking - really frightening what can happen while we are in some dream like state. I do know people who sleep walk and it is scary.

Enjoyed your poem. I don't know if it means I was sleep walking but I do know that I have had early mornings where I roam about and then later on I wonder if that really happened or not.

"Wake up sleeping willow" is a splendid metaphor.

Sleep walking can be downright dangerous. They didn't allow sleep walkers in on ships when my husband was in the Navy. One of his roommates was discharged when he wandered out of his barracks one night just yards away from the bay. They lived on an island and the parking lot guard took him back to his room. Ships can be more dangerous. Bravo! A fine bit of work.

Jodah: I often talk in my sleep John that's why I cannot keep a secret. *smile* but not sleep walk. I think this was the first but I also think I was half-asleep dreaming. I don't know really...I can't explain but whatever was happening (in that dream) feels so real. Recalling the dream is even harder but I enjoyed playing with words. Thus, this hub and glad you enjoyed it too. Thank you.

Great poem describing sleep walking Cris. It can obviously be a scary experience not being in control of your actions. I don't know if I have ever sleepwalked but one of my sons used to often talk in his sleep.

      I enjoyed this. Cheers.

Cris, this past Wednesday my hubby said that I woke him getting out of bed and I went to the bathroom just like you poem, (which is great,) but I don't remember, and one time I opened the door to our apartment and walked out into the hall way to the stairs and walked out as if the hall went straight out and I slid all the way to the bottom on my back, it woke me up, my mom heard me and came out to see about me and from her I learned that was not the only time, but the only time I went out the door.

Wonderful poem my friend from the sky.
