So Good to Feel at Home Again

Updated on February 5, 2015
Mnt Teide National Park
Mnt Teide National Park

The volcanic rock, the dust in the air,

These things some people escape from,

For me, It is Heaven.!

I am alive!. Back in the place that I came from.

Home, where my heart is,

just for a while,

But home is the place for me.

The beautiful sky so visible now,

Not hidden by clouds, as it is overseas

As I attempt to live my new life.

The one I donĀ“t want,

Where the sun never shines,

And the Ocean is too far from me.

Today , as the sun is tapping my shoulders,

I can look up and ... breathe....

Just like old times, when I felt "alive",

This great piece of rock,

keeps drawing me back.

The home that I love, here waiting for me.

I shall just sit and watch My Old Friend the Sea.

Lovely expressive words of what we feel is 'home'...and nothing can take its place. Loved your horses in the sea also. You showed us your heart.

Oh thanks for clarifying. Why can you not return there? It seems a shame.

    Hi Vickiw.

Sorry for the confusion. I am still in the U.K. but have just spent 2 weeks back on the island I call home.

I can assure you that if circumstances allowed me to live back on that island, you would not be at all confused. my hubs would be so joyous , flags waving, photos. Allsorts.

Hello Dim, I am confused, are you still writing from the UK ? Or have you returned to your island? Very evocative poem, either way!
