Some people don't want you to succeed.

Updated on October 14, 2013

I am aware of my online reputation through my posts here and there. Some find most of my posts inappropriate while some find them exclusively educative, entertaining and above all inspirational. Whatever the case maybe, i find my posts neither destructive nor abusive. On occasions, i have voiced my opinions out based on personal experience and experiences of close ones. If there is anything you guys take away from me, anything you learn from me then it is nothing but absolutely this one truth...

...Some people don't want you to succeed.

I said this because i recently found myself wondering why the new ones won't have the chance to exhibit their talents. I found myself in an industry where stereotype is the order of the day. Where if that big Cat is not in your list then you did bad.

We are all endowed with virtues and qualities otherwise in the best way described as TALENT. Most of the up and coming artists has very strong beats but are not given the chance to showcase these beats just because of the big Cat. And this is where my grievances comes up. Was that Big Cat, the other day not a kitten?

I run a small Independent Film production company and my company is like a corridor, a door way for up and coming actors to bounce into the game, as an up and coming producer, what is the need of eating with the Cat when i am a kitten, will the Cat not eat all before me? Will the Cat even consider my direction appropriate?

We need to change the storyline, we have fresh ideas and we are endowed with talent to prove that we are small sharpened axes ready to cut the big trees. You have a good quality and educating content but because there is no big Cat printed on it, the marketer will consider it a re-brand. Why is up and coming in existence?

Whether you agree with me or not, most of these up and coming elements are far better than the big Cats, after all, it remains the truth that "The beautiful ones are not yet born". Furthermore, the wise say "Cut your coat according to your size". Why then should i cut to my size and someone out there will still look at my coat as unfitting?

These are the people that don't want you to succeed. And they always use one language. Create another scene.

Why should i create another scene when i have finish my story?
Who will finance the creation and execution of that new scene?

They leave you falling halter skater and unless the big Cat come on board, you will not get your balance. But thanks to God, majority of the up and coming directors and producers shares the same stubbornness to stereotype just like me. It is true that the big Cat plays tremendous role in this movie business, there is no doubt about this but must we remain this way?

I have an idea, it is self distribution. Set out a trusted platform, get your story in shape and take it out there, it works.

My core message:

If marketer A say no, go to B, believe me, before you get to Z. One with the belief that the up and coming ones need a chance will spot you and like my own guy to me, you will have your break.

Advice:

Be very careful who you have in your team, remember; The green snake on the green grass.Be careful who you confide in, who you trust and who you expect to watch your back, who you land your content on his/her hand. I am serious about the wrong people in your life who you see as good fellas. Believe me, if they don't kill you literary, they do it from within.

People who want you to succeed accept your content just like my guy, they are not out for what they can get from you, they don't insist that you must create new scenes to suit them instead they encourage you to keep being creative and to be the best producer you can be. Sadly, in this selfish society, I don’t think there’s many of them around.

Please Please, if you are in the movie industry, a producer, writer, director, actor or actress and you have experienced 'NO GO' because you are new,i want to hear from you, we can work things out. And finally, good luck in whatever it is you are trying to achieve.
