Songs of the Soul. Wednesday's Inspiration 2, to my Dear Friend Ruby Jean Richert. Happy Birthday!
From time immemorial, ancient Seers have left us a legacy of beautiful or sublime words, that sing or resonate in the soul. We find them in our hour of need and they prove to be of real solace or comfort to us, adding Light, awakening, illumination or Beauty to elevate our weary Spirit … to reach the Heart.
Beauty is the inner and outer expression of the soul. When we see beauty, such as in the innocent smile of a child, or a garden of spring-flowers, we are thrilled within and the Heart stirs in silence.
Swans gliding gracefully on a serene lake, or a fine beach of crystal-clear waters and smooth sand, enhance our inner beauty. Nature by virtue of its magnificence, also augments our inner cheerfulness and joy.
The Heart is the eternal realm of beauty. The Heart is the shrine and the soul is the deity within the shrine. When one is centered within, earth itself, becomes a field of beauty.
I'm enclosing just a tiny fraction of Sri Chinmoy's immortal writings. Hope you find them useful.
Wisdom From Sri Chinmoy
“The law of Karma is one thing
And the divine grace is another.
Remember,
Grace can nullify,
Grace can illumine,
Grace can expedite,
Grace can multiply –
Of Course,
If you believe in Grace!”
“Enthusiasm
Is the fastest speed
Of the searching mind.
Eagerness
Is the fastest speed
Of the aspiring heart.
Oneness
Is the fastest speed
Of the serving life.”
“God is desperately
Searching
For devotion-hearts.”
“My devotion
Surprisingly makes
My mind beautiful.”
“My devotion
Spontaneously makes
My heart sweet.”
“To manifest God’s Light
Here on earth,
A oneness-heart
Is everything.”
“Cheerfulness
Is another name for confidence.”
“The age-old discovery --
Forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness,
Is the only real way to happiness.”
“There is only one thing that was, is and ever shall be
And that is Love. The Love that creates, the Love that
Nourishes and the Love that sustains, God’s universe.”
“It is an exceptional privilege,
To have the beauty of a serene mind,
The purity of a loving Heart
And the divinity of a humble life.”
“My love of God has no need of heaven’s bliss,
For my love of God itself,
Is the highest bliss.”
“Be kind, be all sympathy,
For each and every human being,
Is forced to fight against himself.”
“That which has to be rejected, we reject.
That which has to be transformed, we transform.
That which has to be transcended, we transcend.
In order to transcend, two things are necessary:
Personal effort and God’s Grace.”
“Never worry about what you cannot change.”
"Life’s perfection-road is very long,
But the journey is richly rewarding.”
“O bible, the Saviour has taken away my sins,
Will you not take away, my little, little worries at least?”
“My Lord does not ask me for my mind’s brilliance.
He only asks me for my Heart’s radiance.”
“God descends from above,
To treasure my Heart and not my house.”
“The most beautiful thing on Earth,
Is man’s gratitude to the Supreme, to God,
To the divinity in humanity.
This is the beauty unparallel
And it will remain so, throughout eternity.”
“Only two things are to be taken seriously –
Self-discovery and God-mastery.”
“If you do not have a sense of humour,
God will not choose you to be in His safe company.”
“Try not to change the world,
You will fail.
Try to love the world, lo,
The world is changed, changed forever.”

Poem by Ruby Jean Fuller
Spring Is In The Air
The tears I left behind
Are they still moist? Or perhaps they dried in the misty chambers of emotions, yet to be defined
The rain depicting steamy shadows on my window pane inside
The day is dark and drab, alerting my muse to seasonal depression and the terror of watching my two worlds collide
Ah spring is just over the horizon, and I can feel it in the air
Buds emerging, birds singing, Bunnies hopping happily as they wander from their lair
My beautiful magnolia tree in full bloom, white blossoms soaking up the misty rain
They seem to be singing that old plea refrain
Rain, rain go away
Come back another day
I must admit my thought's are in tune with my sorrowful magnolia tree
Warm sunshine filling up my senses, feeling completely carefree
My psyche reminds me I've weathered many storms in the distant past
My muse ( Shane ) whispers " Don't forget They never, never last. "
Happy Birthday, Ruby
For Your Birthday. Happy Soul's Day!
I rather like this poem of Ruby's. Tells me about her beauty, her grief … sense of immense loss and again of hope and promise; the joy of life; a respect and gratitude for all that God has given her … the sacredness of life.
I have known Ruby Fuller (Always Exploring) for some time here on Hub Pages and she is a very dear friend of mines. Now Ruby Jean Richert is an even dearer friend. She is a brilliant writer and totally awesome at Flash Fiction and other short stories. With poetry, she is a 'dark horse' like Audrey is. They don't always write very much poetry but when they do, they produce quality.
Ruby is awesome at satire, but for me, more importantly, she feels keenly the sense of injustice of modern life - like our Shauna, Ioannis ... especially for the underdogs. She feels, like Bill, a great love of her country - America, the great - and naturally bleeds for injustices in its name.
Ruby is a retired RN, like me. She is married and in her eighties and is a passionate lover of the Hub pages community. She loves music and is an ardent fan of Michael Jackson, Elvis and I believe Tina Turner also. These days, I see Tina doing a lot of work with children in the field of mindfulness and spirituality and Ruby is loyal and devoted to our Lord in a similar way.
God bless you for your birthday, Ruby. May you continue to be blessed … may the soul's Light continue to permeate your conscious life … may the effulgent moon kiss your sweet Heart and continue to decorate your life of beauty. Glory Be! Alleuyia!
Ruby, like some others here, is what I would call a true patriot in the mold of a Lincoln, Washington or Jefferson. We all serve in different ways, true, but I rather suspect that God ultimately looks at the Heart and Ruby has a very loving Heart.
Like me, Pamela and Peggy, she has demonstrated this many times in the field of nursing and service to humanity. Her Hubs indicate a love or affinity with the black cause for justice and other dis-possessed or underprivileged people of colour.
Words of solace
How comforting do you find them?
