Starting Anew: A Poem

Updated on April 2, 2012
Source

Old bones creaking, old bones cracking

Why do I torture myself so?

Huffing and puffing I touch my toes

In six months, will I reach my goal?

I’ve tried it before and it feels so good

After the first two weeks of pain

A body is made to move and groove

I have oh so much to gain!

Easier breathing, a slimmer bod

Cute clothes in my size, not crap

I’m so tired of wearing granny’s old duds

Dark colors can be slimming, but drab!

I want a pretty dress to wear in the Fall

Be awesome and enjoy my niece’s wedding

Not tugging and pulling my tight ugly tent

So eat less now and cut out that breading!

I’ve done it before and it’s not easy

Losing weight is a tough thing to do

Felt sorry for myself and cried so much

So today I’m starting anew.

Enjoyed this and could identify. Sigh--I'm hungry.

And it gets so much harder as time passes. If you are actually doing this best of luck to you; I'll be grunting and groaning with you in spirit. :) Great job as always!

with your desire and fortitude, you can do it.!!!!!

be strong and keep your goal in mind. Just think, you will look more awesomme than you look now.!!!

Congrats to you! On many levels I guess--on doing it, on writing about it, and on taking charge of it--great job!

duffsmom, well I find that the more exercise I do the less hungry I become. I've always been that way. I usually have to make myself eat! Sounds good to some, but I have thyroid problems so I have to eat in order to lose weight. Weird, I know, but gotta keep that metabolism up!

      Thanks for the comment!

Bill, I am really doing this and my body hurts so much today. All I want to do is sit! I've already done a workout today and had another one scheduled, but I think I'm just gonna do one a day for a week or so. Thanks for the support!

Michael, thanks for your support! I really appreciate it and I'm not stopping now, even though I just want to go to bed until the pain stops! I am very thankful I have the use of my legs and arms so I need to take advantage and do something. Some people don't have that freedom.

Voted up and yes it's time to consider moving myself away from my PC. But it's so tough however I find that the more I work the less I eat. Anyway a couple of runs around the house never hurt anyone and exercise is important. Hope you reach your goal.

Gypsy, that's funny that you say that because I am actually taking a couple runs around the house! Thirty trips to be exact and that's an hour. I do that twice a day, once in the morning, and once after the sun goes down. I made myself a walking track on our property because I hate walking on our road. I almost got clipped by a truck with huge side mirrors one day last week, so no more street for me!

Thanks for the votes, comment and encouragement!

Awwww...honey! go easy on yourself - you're doing your best! Remember that some people never get off the couch to try to touch their toes! That alone is worth a pat on the back! Next, the trick will be to keep it off this time and to stop thinking about gaining and losing - just living. it's the focus on food constantly that is the difference between dieting and living! My best advice? live in a bikini 24/7 - or as close as humanly possible! THAT's the best diet in the world!

ImKarn23, you have some very good points! I'm not one of those that obsesses over food and every calorie or carb, and I'm glad about that! I know people like that and they are just boring! As for the bikini...that's not a possibility for me, but it is a good idea!

      Thanks for the comment!
