Starting Anew: A Poem
Old bones creaking, old bones cracking
Why do I torture myself so?
Huffing and puffing I touch my toes
In six months, will I reach my goal?
I’ve tried it before and it feels so good
After the first two weeks of pain
A body is made to move and groove
I have oh so much to gain!
Easier breathing, a slimmer bod
Cute clothes in my size, not crap
I’m so tired of wearing granny’s old duds
Dark colors can be slimming, but drab!
I want a pretty dress to wear in the Fall
Be awesome and enjoy my niece’s wedding
Not tugging and pulling my tight ugly tent
So eat less now and cut out that breading!
I’ve done it before and it’s not easy
Losing weight is a tough thing to do
Felt sorry for myself and cried so much
So today I’m starting anew.
