"Such Beauty is a Tragedy"

Updated on January 29, 2018

The Journey Long and Hard

On our quest for meaning(love),
we may sometimes falter.
As long as we never give up,
we shall not fail.
If something is worth having,
then its worth waiting for.
But things dont always go as planned.
When something good happens,
so does something bad.
I guess there's a sense of balance,
somewhere.

You're like the rose,

that withers

and fades away.

A fallen petal.

A big mistake.

Beauty lies in disaster,

and you are a tragedy.

With tragedy

lies the beautiful,

such a pitiful breed.

So pathetic.

So shallow.

Fallen angels

wished "God speed."

Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave

and now the rose

all covered in blood.

This is the damage

that you have done.

A parasite.

A plague.

A sorry excuse for a human being.

Oh, how the beautiful

can be so ugly.

I have always loved the darkness in your words. So amazingly divine. The very way heartache reaches into my soul and squeezes the beauty out and fills me with pain. Love your style Nicole.

Love the poem, it conveys so much and you did it with a short and sweet approach. Awesome.

Honesty ... that is my predicament. I have never thought of roses as honest flowers...

takes an eye of an artist and a poet to see things in different lights.

I find your analogy interesting and surprising.

Thanks Kallini. Definitely a beast within, Ive acknowledged that a long time ago. Truth hurts and thats why I love roses so much, because they are honest. They are thorned. and sometimes the pain just cant be washed off. Blood can leave stains. I consider myself stained...I just know how to hide it. Most of the time anyway.

It's as beautiful as it is sad.

I often see things (same things) in different lights entirely depending on my mood and yet I never stop being shocked how my own perception changes everything.

      A beautiful rose...

      Blood can be washed off

      But roses come with thorns

and that is the part of the truth

      Where there is a beauty

There is always a beast nearby

      Maybe even within

      Beautiful poem, beautiful images.

How did I miss this? These are really wonderful, Nikki. I'm glad I read these poems. Dark but so exquisite and like a violin quartet with creeping highlights making the tension... and I love the artwork. :)

Some learn the HARD WAY that the Grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You are Beautiful in more ways than one, and the words that you write are Gorgeous.

      Simply Beautiful.

P.S. Nice Hub, you aqre getting closer to that pic of a face.

      Much Love

      Michael

Well documentor. you dont know the whole story behind this. and these arent my flaws, trust me those are much different and are tended to every day. But this is about one particular, actually 2 particular people at the time. a guy and a girl. a guy who broke my heart in many ways and a girl he chose over me who broke his heart no matter how much he says she didnt, he was hurt, both would be said to be of the beautiful people standards, and not saying that I am not beautiful because I am, but beauty differs from inside and outside and some people have both or one, some may have neither. Hence why beautiful people can be so ugly. We all have our ugly moments. We all do things we are ashamed of and things that may seem cruel to others. No one is perfect, and no one is perfectly beautiful.

Interesting. I've typically found that ugly people even if they start off beautiful become ugly from the inside out until it shows.

Beautiful poeple, no matter how they start out, look beautiful to others because of their inner kindness.

Being envious of beauty instead of appreciating it defines the person who is degrading the lovely ones, at least in my opinion.

Very few emotionally healthy women spend eight years writing about the evils of beauty. In fact, very few emotionally healthy women obsess on one beautiful woman online to the exclusion of living any sort of their own lives.

I see a lot of this envy poetry in various intrafanned names that is both poorly done and looks like it was written by the same tortured soul. However a sideways compliment or form of unrequited love to the one addressed, it's also an insight into the inner ugly of the bad poet.

To you I say, salvation is always possible, but it will only come when you attend to your own flaws and repair them rather than continuing to project your vileness onto others.

It's beautifully written and highly descriptive, Nikki. And you had a bit of balance in the poems - started with a more cheerful one. Would have felt better to have ended with the cheer, though. Whoever this "sorry excuse for a human being" is - needs to be strung up by the thumbs. (just kidding - even a black-heart deserves to live with his conscience) :)
