Ten suggestions for World Book Day that will make you cry.
Ten Books to make you cry
Well today is World Book Day and as some of you will know I love to read whenever I get the time so I thought I would do some reviews of some good books I have read that have also been very touching stories. Those of you that read this sort of book will know they are the ones that are so enjoyable you cannot put them down but you are crying so much at the storyline you find it difficult to read the print either due to blurred vision or a soggy book!!
There have been some lovely books I have read that have pulled on the heartstrings and made me blubber like a baby. Many of which I have liked so much I have wanted to share with friends but rather than risk losing my only copy (which I will re-read) I have gone out and bought the friend a copy of their own to keep.
Here are ten books I would put into that category....
- Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson
The story follows the character of Katie who having found her perfect man one day finds he has left leaving behind a diary for her to read. Suzanne's diary is the outpouring of a new mothers love to her baby son Nicholas. Telling her story through the pages of her love for her husband and son. The husband in the pages of this book is also Katie's perfect man! What will Katie discover as she continues to read this diary she has been left???
- The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
The Notebook begins with Noah, an 80 year old man reading out of a notebook to an elderly woman telling the story of two young lovers, Allie and Noah. The notebook tells the story of how Allie and Noah fall in love during the summer of 1936, and are then torn apart for seven years until they are reunited. Noah stops reading the story there and explains to the reader that the woman he is reading to is his wife and she is suffering from Alzheimer's she doesn't even remember who he is; he is Noah and she is Allie. The overwhelming love they have as a couple is very touching and you will just melt into the storytelling of their lives.
- PS I love you by Cecilia Ahern

If Dave does not finish the dishes he will not be fed. He takes his hand out of the dish water and is slapped hard against the counter top when his mother catches him.He finishes the dishes and as his reward he is left to eat his brother's leftovers from breakfast. A heart wrenching tale of torture and pain that took far too long to be noticed by outsiders.
