Thanksgiving Dinner - A Poem

Updated on March 15, 2011

A peek into a moment in time for this family during the holiday season.

 Laughing voices, lounging, leaning
Smiling, shining, slicing
The near-eruption of a fight
Silenced by a fresh plate.

Grateful eyes
Eager hands
Reaching, bumping, spilling, laughing.

The wrong word.
Two voices rise in rage
Seven forks poise.

An older hand rests on a younger shoulder.
A lined mouth whispers wise words.
Eyes roll.
Lips smirk.
Arms hug.

Giggles and the smell of pumpkin pie
Waft up to the rafters.
