The Life That Could Have Been: Our Own Road Not Taken
“Then I imagined if I didn't take that fight, What would my world be like?
Would I be standing at the altar by her side? Would her child be mine?
And I think that I've just seen, The life that could have been...
The life that should have been”
All our choices in life, whether good or bad, they make and pen our own autobiography.
Sometimes, once in our life, we make a wrong decision – perhaps financial decisions, picking up the wrong career and landing at the wrong job, and the most painful one is about relationship decisions for this one if you get hurt, the scar will forever stay in your heart.
And after so many years, that awkward eye contact with somebody who used to mean the world to you will make you think of your path not taken. Although it is important that we have to accept that we cannot be right all the time and we have to move on and learn from our mistakes.
Most any wrong choices or decisions can be corrected, all you have to need is the courage to face it and this time, make it right. We learn from experience – and this experience is what we always take with us whenever we go and whatever we do. When we decide something important in our life, there are no guarantees that it will be 100% risk-free.
No matter how much you weighed the consequences it will bring; there will always be a little doubt.
That’s why we call it a decision.
Sometimes, a wrong decision can haunt someone for years especially when your options are all gone. You will ask yourself this two-word, ‘what if’. Yes, there will be a lot of questions that will pop on our heads. What happens in our life is the result of our decisions.
And as we go along life’s highway, we’re going to make a handful of wrong choices. These wrong choices will end up disappointing us and that’s not what we want.
But these wrong choices will be our guide as we march forward, pocketing all the lessons learned from it. And these will not be a hindrance for us to remain on ground.
Get up and face it.
So when we make our choice on something, a choice for a lifetime, think first and listen. Choose the one that will make you happy and contented. Our future is molded by our own unique decisions. We cannot just go back to the past and choose the other way around if our first choice didn’t turn out good for us.
Don't say "I have no choice", we always have a choice even when you thought there is no option left, surely there is always something else that can be done. Decide, stand to it and move on. Live the life to the fullest. Never regret whatever choice you have made because at one time, it was the one you wanted.
